Hey folks,
I was just about to post my last pic on 3d commune and there's this message from Mark saying its he had to close doors.
Im in shock and feeling very sad. 3d commune and its people made Omac happened and all my wonderful Bryce renders so im eternally grateful to Mark and Paul.
Wish i was Dan and i could just buy the site right now.
Everyone from 3dc plse your messages in here.
Miss the people badly.
Omac,

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear about this, Omac
I never visited 3DCommune much, but whenever I did I always felt I was among good people.
I'm not sure what's happened, but if the close is down to lack of business I have to be honest and say I'm not surprised. One of the main reasons I never used it as a main place to discuss was because I thought the general design of the site (and especially the forum format) was a mess. I hope that doesn't come accross rude, it's just that I always had a sinking feeling it wouldn't last long in this competitive market place because of it's design.
I remember not so long ago I spoke with the site owner about something and he happened to mention having a new design going to be launched. I thought that was great news, and congratulated him. But sadly, when it arrived I thought the new design was even worse than the original (far too messy). I was even tempted to drop him a message and tell him so because I thought the design would drive current folk away rather than attract new folk. But who the hell am I to do that, I just couldn't bring myself to say it to him.
Anyway, I wish him the best of luck in any other ventures he might have planned, and I hope you have broadband for uploading all your images here, you'll need it for all those images.

Goodness I'm quite shocked.
Must say I agree with Len regarding the site design and especially their forums, personally I felt the old site design was better and a darn site easier to navigate but that may not have anything to do with it closing down. It does seem a shame, just hope the vendors are able to get their money back.

BTW, don't forget http://www.bryce5.com for images as well.
I'm not sure David Brinnen's site will want to or be able to handle high gallery volumes, but if Horo and Rashad are anything to go by, they always welcome new gallery submissions. The site also has that community feel like the 3DCommune did.
Although I've never actually posted anything there, they're a cool bunch of peasants at that site

This is not David's site but Mark's and it is located in Chicago. David and myself (among others) have admin status, that's all.
Indeed, bryce5.com is a very nice community, nice folks, very helpfull, too. But it is small compared to others like Rendo. So if you are looking for a gallery to publish your work that is viewed by 100.000 or millions, bryce5.com is the wrong place. It is small, dedicated and non-commercial.

Sorry peasant, I always assumed it was his for some reason
Yup, I didn't think it would be the place for massive views, I only mentioned it because Omac liked the 'community' thing.
I'll keep my mouth shut next time

I read the message today and was really shocked, too. I was a 3dc member for so long and it was a real family - lots of nice people. I hope we can stay in contact here!

Nice to see you again PK. I was very sorry to hear about 3dc's troubles too. It was a very friendly forum, and some very nice people too. Hope they all find their way here.
Best Wishes
