I could see this as a cover for one of those books (great series, but it never seems to end!!)

It didn't. Jordan passed away before the last book was written.

Brandon Sanderson was handpicked by Robert Jordan's wife to finish the series. Book 12, "The Gathering Storm" just came out. For my money, and I've read the series many, many times over, Sanderson did a fantastic job taking over the series. Jordan left many notes, audio tapes and completed passages. He left so much information, in fact, that book 12 was supposed to be the last, but instead it'll be in three parts. "The Gathering Storm" is approximately 750 pages and the print is on the small side.

I love this one, too. The denseness of it looks so mystic. (Matches your avatar pretty good, too, I'd say. The entire frame has a good look to it! lol )

Your illustrated style is very becoming, FlyByNight. Most attractive! All your stuff looks so great.
How come there's no avatar for "Oooooooo"?

Nice!
Now, tell me— are the leopard–skin bikini & top faux fur, or did she take them from an enemy's cat?
Or did she take them from her own? |
Faux Fur for sure, who would want to kill & skin such pretty little puddy cat
Glad you like the image, I just need to come up with a title now, something I'll think about whilst at work today.

From my joined date looks like I found DAZ about the same time I did that image. Probably just before my husband passed away. Can't believe it will be 6 years in December. He was my biggest fan, too. He loved what I was able to create in Poser.
I've got to say again that I am so glad this thread was started because I'm getting a chance to see a lot of amazing art, most I've never seen before. Y'all rock!!!
Jadesfire, that image is great, especially viewed full sized. |
Thanks!
Sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sure he would've loved your recent stuff, as well as the advances in Poser tech since then, especially with the renders now being able to achieve photo-realism.

In September 2004, I stumbled into DAZ site by accident, looking for an old screensaver type thing called DAZZLE! . I never found any updates for Dazzle! but found more than I could ever use in 3D CG instead! Despite what they say about Murphys Law, there are SOME accidents you could just bless! |
I remember that. I had it, it was a fantastic active fractal screen saver, right?

Yep. Back in the day when DOS screensavers were being touted as necessary to save the Monitors life. I recall that DAZZLE included info educating the user what "Screensaver" meant and why it was needed. Here Xai is showing the few screen caps I kept from those ancient days.
But it wasn't exactly "fractal". In the free version it used only VGA 320 x 200 - 8 bit palette, or 256 colors.

Yup, that was it! I actually may still have it somewhere. But I'm not sure. I still have some of my old 3.5" floppies with old DOS downloads...somewhere.

@ DanaTA - man I ain't had a floppy drive in the last three builds/rebuilds I've done! LOL! What I did do a few years back is copy all my old stuff from both 5.25 and 3.5 floppys to the hd, then burn CD's with all that stuff. Pitiful, cause I think ALL that stuff only filled a couple of CD's! I might have some version of DAZZLE somewhere. But I bet it won't run on this rig at all.

The solution is an external USB floppy drive!
I got one from Toshiba, and it saved my life a couple times, for I still have hundreds of floppies.
The good thing is you can plug it on any computer you want.

I actually bought one about a year ago so I could do that, but haven't yet. At least I have the drive. My case has plenty of drive space in it. I have that, two DVD Writers (one with LightScribe), and two hard drives (was three, but one died and I haven't replaced it yet...but I have 1.5 Terabytes in there so there's no rush). I love the SATA drives, the cables don't take up much room and the airflow is much better.

Frazetta is one of my favorites--instantly recognizable style. Wasen't there a Frazetta contest on here some time back?
With all the interest shown in this thread I'm pretty sure another contest would have great participation.

There was talk of another contest, but with the passing of Ellie, Frank's wife, and the closing of their museum currently, I think its best we wait until next year, and the holiday season passing before we consider another one.
