Your welcome Smile I just hope more people use the Shader Mixer or Shader Mixer built shaders so that Daz knows we appreciate these types of features and they continue developing them.

I was reading some old threads and saw this one started by Esque...
http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=120480

It solved a problem I was having trying to figure out how to apply a shape, line etc. based on UV coordinates. Because of this I saw a different way of doing the plaid by making actual lines rather than a fudge of the tile pattern block. I may update it later as I have time.

For now I decided to play around with argyle. Below is a quick render of it in progress (image rotated 45%) and the network used to make it along with some notes. I think I can rotate it using a network Richard Haseltine posted...
http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=114436&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60

I assume it is ok to use bits of Richard's and Esque's networks as they posted them publicly here but I will be sure to ask before I release a shader using them.

Strange. I just downloaded it now to check and it seems to be working. Maybe my site was down. My host was great for the first 4 or 5 years but hasn't been as reliable lately.

If you try again and still can't follow the link or get the download please either post or PM me so I can track down the problem.

Thanks,

William

I have to figure out how to turn Plaid into Argyle...

I was gonna just let you do it but you planted the seed and I can't stop thinking about it hehe.

I have been busy on armour orders and building freebie accessories to go with my first commercial 3d figure coming soon, Errr... soon as in a few weeks not Daz "Soon" LOL! Wink

Anyway... I feel compelled to finish up the argyle shader but the network looks really sloppy and I feel it could probably be optimized somehow. I am also having an issue with the thin lines looking aliased. If anyone wants to try to improve on it you can download a very rough version at:

http://www.ageofarmour.com/3d/free/downloads/argyle_0.0.2.2.zip

It currently isn't very user friendly because I haven't renamed any of the nodes or cleaned up the UI tree. I left it this way so that those with D|S3A could mess with the network. It has no bump or sheen etc... just the pattern but I did get it vertically elongated and rotated, thanks to Richard's math.

Have Fun,

William

Thanks William!! I gave it a try, but was unsuccessful. Now I can look at yours and see what I should have done.

Your most welcome but don't take what I do as how it Shhhhouuuulddd be done but rather how one can hack something together that kinda works hehe.

In case anyone is interested in messing with this but is new to Shader Mixer I thought I would include some notes of what all the nodes do. It is still confusing, even to me and I wrote it LOL! However, maybe it can give someone a few starting points.

Beware BIG image!
