I'm trying to bake a Mil3 texture, but I can't separate out a single domain. I have *JUST UPDATED* to the newest available version (Mac). I am trying to export the Head Scalp only, but I get every domain layered in the final image.
How can I just get the domain(s) I am looking for?

Copy the scalp as a separate mesh and run Baker again?

Not famliar with that model, but can't you highlight the scalp in the list and the copy/paste?
Edit Menu: Copy/Paste
The copy will appear as a new item below the grouped mesh or should.
Once copied, just hide the entire original mesh, select the copy and bake a normal map or w/e.
The replace the original with the normal by hiding or deleting.

No. As you can see in the screengrab, everything is grayed out.
I cannot copy/paste the selection.

Weird, it has to be somewhere on that list.
Unless it's in the twilight zone of meshes.

That is not helpful.
Before I get overly frustrated, which "list" do you keep referring to?

The Instance list in the Assembly Room.
If the object is grouped, you should be able to drill down the group list and find the area you need.
If it is not grouped, you'll have to select the polygons one by one or with the paintbrush.

I am selecting by Domain Name in the vertice modeler. That is more accurate.
... and anyway there is still no way to copy/paste a sub-grouping from the instances list, either. You are very unhelpful today Throck and I'm no closer to solving the issue.
I've emailed Julien at Inagoni. A thread here at DAZ says the BAKER domain issue was solved with a recent update, but it still seems to be bad on the MAC version....

Sorry, i couldn't help you Holly - you can blame me for any other problems in the universe as well.
Domain name confuses me, I think of Website registration when I read that.
Whatever happened to groups and sub-groups?
Hope you solve the problem, not having the model to look at, I had to guess at what your issues might be.

Well, there is climate change and the national deficit....
Nah, I don't really care about those, I just need BAKER to work...!
And to not go down a rabbit hole chasing a work-around that doesn't work. LOL! It's way off topic and the subject is:
BAKER DOESN'T SEPARATE THE DOMAIN NAMES!!!
*shakes fist at universe, and holds Throck personally responsible*

Here's a workaround.
1.Export as an obj to get rid of the bones.
2. Import the obj. Take it into the Model Room.
3. Go to Selection/Select by/Shading Domain.
4. In the pop up dialog, select skin scalp.
5. Go back to the Selection menu and choose "Invert Selection" then press the delete key.
Go back to the Assembly Room and bake.
Baked Skin Scalp image below:

This must be a MAC issue. I get a single domain map on a PC. You should pass this on to Julien at Inagoni for a fix.
EDIT: And no.... the functions that WERE in C5 to copy/paste/crease/scissor/etc are no longer available to use. Some were still there in C6, but 7 has none of them left. Yes, it sucks, and I requested these be put back as a 'feature', but hey... I'm just one voice.

Well I have the last version available for C6 and it isn't splitting domains or singling them out per map. I assume that is what you wanted. This would be logical.

Thanks for checking Tex, I emailed Julien about it.
Thanks for the tip JonnyB. I couldn't think of how to ditch the rigging.
I guess DAZ doesn't want us to steal their figures... yet they force them on us for free when we buy Carrara. Irony, thy name is DAZ.

You're welcome Holly.
@HumanTex,
I'm on a PC, Win Vista 64bit and I'm using C7Pro. Baker has an option for selecting individual domains. However, on my end, it merges and bakes all the Shader Domains, even when a single domain is selected.

There is an earlier thread where this was discussed for PC and reportedly fixed with a recent Baker update:

I hate all computers equally.
Like Cleopatra said when Hiro invented the steam engine.... "It's a great little toy, but you'll never replace slave labor!"
