Tims work, and the background of it's production, highlights, I hope, some of the ideas I have been trying to promote.
There are so many images on this forum thread that just need a little nudge to take them from bland to great as is his.
And so much more should be done by Carrararians to really do individual personal modelling--as Tim again exemplifies.
I was set a challenge yesterday, off forum, to model some gears.
The attached is the result of my efforts this morning. I can assure you that
my mind was at full attention in producing it.
What HUGE fun it is!

Apart from a few minor issues* that's very nice
Should I buy the Shoestring Shaders if they are featured in the PA sale... too many choices /groan
* the white pants, people looking at nothing in particular which makes them disconnected... somehow, and Ben

This is not a render per se; it's animation but still fun

An animation is still a render.

If of interest.
Just a little WIP this morning for something to do.
I am trying to ensure all the modelling is my own work.
(kept me busy in the Vertex Room!)
The lantern was made a few months back--quite proud of it--it was not an easy exercise.
Need to stand aside and think about all the things I want to add to the scene.

I like Tim's picture, nice stinger,, the future seems quite nice
Fantastic Mister Fenric nice fur
Nice images from lots of people.
I've been messing around with terrains recently, just trying different texture settings, trying to make an island.
Post worked in photoshop with Ron's waves and birds.

Great images and animations.
3dage - I'm liking that sea. I've been wanting to get a choppy sea effect in Carrara for ages. I'd not really considered postworking it in (though it seems an obvious way)
Postworking is something I'm only just beginning to play around with. In the past I've tended to upload the renders 'hot off the Carrara press' as it were. With the recent discussions that have taken place on this thread in relation to postwork, perhaps we could start a postworking thread? This is an area I'd particularly like to learn more about.
Here's a bit of random replicator sillyness. Everything has been modelled in Carrara.

Holly that hair looks fantastic... am I right in thinking it's Carrara hair?

Quite an inspiring thread!

Hypno Disc was a robot from Robot Wars
The robot and scene was modelled (nothing pre made) in Truespace, textured and rendered in Carrara 6.2
Thanks to 3Dage for help with the disc texture 8)
