Here is another one I did with bullet physics.
The game board tilts to one side, because there is a unvisual sphere below.

Hello everyone!
This is my quick try out of Carrara Bullet Physics. I have used Carrara already many years due its simplicity and am a very happy that physics is now much faster. Not yet in real time, but dozens and dozens time faster than previous standard physics.
If you want play and fall disk(s) yourself, be free and download this Carrara scene source from here.
Now I miss collision driven sound events. Appetite grows with tasty foods, you know.
One drawback too - I wanted render this video with almost all “bells and whistles” turned on (indirect lighting, caustics, ...) and leaved Carrara working for night (240 frames, estimated render time about 12 hours), but in morning Carrara was gone without any error messages.
P.S.
Ehee – just now discovered strange behavior of Carrara. When you launch Carrara and then without any scenes loaded make click to render tab and then open scene or create new one, its not possible to access render parameters or even do a render. I first thought that its beta fault, but Carrara Pro 7.2 behaves the same.
Anyway – Carrara is great value for money – thanks a lot.

Have a look again. I think it's just that Carrara switches to the Batch Render tab when you go there with out a scene loaded and when you load after that you have to switch back to "normal" rendering by hand. I stumbled over that too, before my eyes strayed downwards on the screen and noticed me being in the Batch Renderer.

Evening All,
Ok, had a go at this myself but allas, i have run out of time. Had to final render today even though i was quite a way away from finishing.
So, i appologise for the very basic texturing and the choppy camera animation here and there but this will be my submission for this contest.
All you see was done using C8 bullet with 2 objects keyframed, a HDRI was used for lighting with a little AO and a single distant light. Wanted to use C8's new lighting features but there was no time.
Thanks for watching & here she be:
This is amazing - when I tried similar things with C7, the results were inconsistent. After saving and opening again, the physics wouldn't work the same. It looks like C8 is worth checking out.

I'm finding that there still are some issues with using the text tools and the transition between program windows when first opening the app (in the mac version at least.)

Yeah - you are right - I have used Carrara since 5th version but stumbled to that situation just today
Thanks for reply.

There seems to be a problem with the text tool. It cannot fully close the mesh on most fonts. This text in this case was manually closed off. Booleans were unable to open the holes in the font for the R and A.
The text was set for soft body physics, yet did not appear to deform much, regardless of the setting. [EDIT: Closer inspection shows that the text is reacting pretty well] It also has the strange bounce that is common in Carrara physics solutions.

I've seen some fluid dynamics anims done in Blender that are very impressive - anyone know if this is also a Bullet thing or somethnng else, and if it IS Bullet, will it be incorporated into Carrara too?
R22eRKodiak,
Thats a known bug and is currently assigned, hopefully they'll get it sorted soon.

Thank you so much much PhilW!
I had found some of that in guessing, but you pointed the way on a few critical points. Following your directions, quickly made a ball slamming into a cube and pushing it aside. Now I feel like I can move forward and participate!
Thanks again

I know - one step at a time...
I don't believe it is bullet. I knew the guy that wrote the plug-in with Blender fluid dynamics for trueSpace before that company went tango uniform.
Of course, I don't do programming, have to ask him. (user name Froo)

3dlust, I like the camera shake. Did you do that in carrara or post? If it's actually the balls moving, yeah, I'd like to know how you accomplished that, especially if it was done with physics. Great direction, and sound, and music. I think if carrara show any of these at siggraph or where ever, that they're likely to replace our audio, though.

Thanks everybody Glad you like it! I love the new bullet physics engine! Can't wait for the final release - woohoo!
