    I think that gently lapping water on the shore might be possible with your system. I'm going to make some tests when I find the time.

    So I just bought a new computer that should be able to handle this easy enough, (ship date 10/4 10/5... assuming they don't change it again!) But that means I don't have much left in the budget for cool products like this one. Wishlisted for now.

    @L'Adair,

    I think you will be very happy you updated. A decent GPU opens up a whole new world in iRay (although, you would no longer qualify in the ever-needed "beta tester with a slow computer" group smiley).

    Well, so far I've bought every "Philosopher" product. Not animating, but couldn't pass this up for stills.

    @fastbike1,

    Thank you! I really appreciate loyal customers. Any suggestions on what to do next?

    @BeeMKay,

    I think that could work. I haven't tried it yet due to time restraints, but it might be passable on a shoreline. You wouldn't get the breaking of waves effect, or the splashes. But that doesn't happen with gentle waves.

    LOL... Sure I could. I'm not retiring the HP altogether, so I could still test products on the CPU Only computer, as well as in 4.8 and 4.9 Beta. (Hint, hint...)

  • The animations are not working.  I also don't see a morphs dial like I do in the tutorial vid.  I'm on v4.8.

    I'm on 4.8 as well and the animations and morphs work great for me. I do have the full version of Animate2 though so I can't speak for animate lite.

  • I also have the full version of Animate2.

  • I also have the full version of Animate2.

    So you're not getting any motion at all with the aniblocks?

  • No, I'm not.  It is loading the aniblock, I can see the frame counter moving, but the mesh itself is not animating at all.  Other figures animate.

  •  Did you try to obvious stuff, quitting, restarting your computer and all that. Occasionally I have problems with Animate2 that only work out after the simple reboot.

  • Yes, I have tried all that.  I've also verified in the plugin manager it didn't register anything as "Failed".

  • Have you tried loading the included sample scene?

  • Yes, no luck there either.

  • When you actually click on a node for an iReal Ocean prop in your scene tab, you don't see the Morphs under the parameters tab?

  • I don't. I found the folder the morphs were in and imported all (around 122ish?) onto the water and still didn't see the morphs tab.  I do have my directory setup under the D: drive for my second HDD but typically morphs load without any issue.

    Hmm, it obviously has to do with the morphs not loading, but mine just load automatically as I have everything installed in the default locations, so I don't know how to help you there. The aniblocks can't work without those morphs.

  • That's what I was thinking too.  Is there a way the morphs tab somehow would not be loading for some objects?  Like an option I can turn on somewhere?

    I don't really know how those morphs get loaded, or if there's a manual way to load them. But I would assume that because they are not in the default location that the duf files can't see them to load them. I believe you can have multiple paths for your installs. So I would try uninstalling iReal, and reinstalling it to the default locations for Daz. (You can still keep your other stuff on your D drive if space is a concern, but just try reinstaling iReal.)

    I do know that when the aniblock runs, it uses every one of those 120 morphs in quick succession, I just watched them all get adjusted as the aniblock runs. So without those loading properly you're definitely not going to get any animation working.

  • @Piscesdreams,

    Did you download the oceans through DIM? You might try uninstalling and reinstalling, as DvoraszeniaStudio said. Or if that doesn't work, try installing into the default installation directory.

    You are a scholar!  I unzipped the manual download into my C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library folder and all of a sudden it works great.  Thank you again for your help and bearing with me. :)

    EDIT @ PA_ThePhilosopher - I just noticed your response.  DvoraszeniaStudios's suggestion worked like a charm.  Thank you both!

    I've completed (for now) the test with the iAOS.

    Thoughts and suggestions:

    • A "flat ended", additional version to work with shores would be ideal.
    • If you add several ridgid follow nodes, it would make adding floating object a lot easier for your casual user.
    • I found the ocean system eady to use, though aligning the ocean segments if you have a larger grid can be a pain in the rear end.
    • Render times are generally pretty good, if you work with sinmle planes. 50-150 iterations give a good result.
    • If you start adding more instances, or use two sets combined (like for the shorewaves tests), the render times go up dramatically.

  • Really nice work @BeeMKay. Adding the transparency map is brilliant. yes

    Thank you. It didn't work quite as well as I had hoped, though.

    I guess that if you have an additional  "Z___" shaped part at the end of the plane, you could animate the (very flat) Z part horizontally instead of vertically, it would cover most of the problems I encountered. Of course, that still wouldn't be real waves, unless you are working with a couple of thousands of instances of water drops that "escape" from the Z at some point... and there's the colour change aspect to think about in a breaking wave.

    Any examples of this rendered with 3Delight?

    EDIT: found some 3DL examples in "the commons":

    By the way may I ask if he ireal ocean can also be used for still images? Also make more characters as well :)

  • And how did you make the ball move in your promo? Can you kindly do a tutorial on that if you can? :)

  • @unknownmystery445

    Yes iREAL Ocean can be used for still images as well. You would simply not apply the aniBlock to the ocean object (or, you can use the aniBlock to pose the ocean how you want it, then render that single frame).

    The ball in the promo video was made in Cinema 4D using its native physics engine. You could manually animate the ball in Daz, but the string would be very difficult to achieve natively in Daz.

  • Hi I hope you can also make moving clouds, snow, dust, etc. that would be cool! :)
