Released today: Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female(s)
Original Post: 9 September 2016
Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female(s) will be released shortly. The presentation and implementation of this will follow closely the template set down for the Legacy UVs, except, of course, the UVs are going in the opposite direction. The UVs supported are the Base Female UVs for Genesis 3 Female only. There will not be separate sets for any of the individual UVs, like Victoria 7, because it seems these are used for textures even more infrequently than in the previous generation. I do, however, plan to release a set for Genesis 2 Male(s).
This thread is for the discussion of any questions or issues which may arise. I thought it best to start a new thread rather than tack this on to the Legacy UVs thread because, for one thing, the thread titles could start to get very confusing!
I have attached a couple of promos for the release.

Thank you for these! I'd still love to see something that brings the V3 maps to the Genesis world, but I suspect that there are a lot of people who'd be just as excited to get something to adapt original Star skins to Star 2.
Looking forward to this! I had just started using GF2 when genesis 3 came out, so it will be nice to revisit some of the figures I created before genesis 3 arrived and be able to use the latest Iray skin settings
Both V3 and Star conversions are less likely than not, but anything is possible if I run out of other ideas.

This solves a few character/wardrobe continuity problems for me, K, thanks. OT: is a G3F>V4 version possibly forthcoming?
I would say that is very unlikely - unless there is a sudden clamour for it. I'd need about twenty people to come on the threads to say they're interested, then I might consider it! But I cannot imagine the demand would really be that great.
EDIT: I have now realised, of course, that there cannot be a G3F to V4 UV conversion because V4 does not take geografts.
Picked this up today along with the Genesis 2 males to Genesis 3 (I really dislike the Genesis 3 males, excpet for 1 or 2 - its not the quality there is just something about them that throws me off) I love the Gen2 characters though so this will make using the improvement to Gen3 much easier for me to use.
Will this work for those of us who use our Genesis 2s in Poser and Carrara, etc?
I don't think so. There are a lot of DAZ Studio oriented components to it - scripts, geografts, surface selection sets. Some bright spark may be able to get some results in Poser or Carrara, but it is only supported for DAZ Studio, and I would not be able to help out if you had any problems.
I've got this in the cart. Just waiting for something else I want to show up on sale... the "megagrab" is unusually skimpy this morning.
YESSS!!! Thank you!
I am so greatful to PA's who create backwards-compatable scripts. I invested heavily in G1 and G2, and there's still life in those figures yet!
A quick and dirty Reality/LuxRender render of Nyota with Imari's plain skin
Now I have no reason not to buy more G3F characters
Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Male(s) will be released shortly. It includes UV support for the Anatomical Elements and PDF documentation, as usual.
I have attached some promos which use the pistol and poses from Pistol and Poses for Michael 6 and Victoria 6 by Porsimo.
Wonderful! I have most of your products and they work so well. Easy to use and great results!
Looks fantastic. Another instant purchase!

V4 to G3 in the works? That would be great!
I'm still hoping for G3F to V4. I want this so I can use all my V4 high heels on my G3-looking characters. Yes! Everyone who likes this idea post to this thread now please!
If you mean V4 UVs on Genesis 3 Female, that is for sale over at Rendo.
I've mentioned before that G3F UVs on V4 will not be possible because V4 doesn't take geografts.
Oh, no! Well, that solves that problem, in a way. Thanks for telling me about that. And thanks again for the indispensable service you have provided to the Daz community through your conversion products, of which I own the lot.
What is a megagrab?
It went in the cart as soon as I read this! I can't do nudes with G3M. They just aren't that great. G2M has spoiled me with the great, um, Anatomical Elements he has. So, happy to read that I can now use some of those great G3 skins on G2M. There are just some things that G2M is much better equipped for than G3M. ;)
We are using Genesis2 characters, but exporting them out as .fbx.
Would that work for us? Can we export a Gen2 fbx with the Gen3 uv's ?
Thanks
I am unfamiliar with .fbx files so I cannot really give you a definitive answer on this. But the Genesis 2 figure can only hold the entire Genesis 3 UV mapping with the aid of geografts, which my product provides. So you would have to somehow include the geografts in your export, or there will be areas on Genesis 2 without the UVs.
Have all the items, any new ones in the near future?
Nothing in the pipeline. I've done ten of these products now (8 here, two at Rendo), that's fourteen individual UV conversions. There isn't really very much else that can be viably done. Most UVs not covered can be converted using the Map Transfer facility in DAZ Studio.
Sorry to hear that, be aware when you have something there is a customer.
Thank you again for creating a series of products that are not only extremely useful but financialy rewarding.
Happy New Year!!!
(thank you for the link also)
It might be worth mentioning at this juncture that Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female(s) will also work with Genesis 8 Female textures, because the UVs are practically the same. One difference is that you will have to produce two Material presets (one for the main figure and one for the eyelashes) from the native Hierarchical Material preset, before applying them to Genesis 2.
Another thing to watch out for is that the Cornea on Genesis 8 is now part of the EyeMoisture surface. This means that the Cornea will transfer to the Genesis 2 Cornea, and also to the Genesis 2 EyeReflection, so it will be doubled up. This may or may not be noticeable, depending on the particular material, but a simple solution would be to set the Opacity of the Genesis 2 Cornea to zero.
Hello, I ... urm.. need help please.
I purchased Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Male(s) a while ago, but I have not been able to work with it properly. A few of my Gen3 Materials work just fine but the majority of them do not.
Daz keeps spiting out this Error message:
Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_material" type; no root(s) found.
But I don't know what it's trying to tell me. Am I doing something wrong?
And when I try to put on the maps manually they don't fit even after I used the script to aply Genesis 3 Uvs ...
That's because some of the MATs used by Genesis 3 are "Hierarchical Material Presets", which means they are designed to be applied to Genesis 3, and won't work on Genesis 2. What you have to do is simply load the MAT onto Genesis 3, then save it as an ordinary Material preset. You should then be able to load the ordinary Material preset onto Genesis 2, as before.
