Thanks.  As to the render times, very possibly.  I'll need to render the wings by themselves and the skydome by itself on my setup and see what my render times are with the separate products.  I really do like how he turned out and that skydome was perfect for how I wanted it to look.  :)

Purchased this item, everything as advertised and then some.

Coincidentally have another of your products Epic Props: Godrays & Volumetric Light for Iray.

Was wondering about advantages/disadvantages. problem with combining both in same scene

    Your thoughts?

    Thank you

Here...great skydome - good job! Fireflies problem -> Render Settings -> Filtering -> Firefly Filter Enable -> ONwink

Oops, my fault here. I should have had the FF filter on by default... will have to update.

Nice work by the way. The third image reminds of the movie Oblivion.

Here is my final image, first render with the Epic Skydome.

Nice work Knittingmommy...very creative use, and nice atosmphere.

    bicc39,

Yes you can certainly use the Godrays in the skydome as well. I didn't really test it though, so I don't know how far you can take it.

Nice images!  I had that on, but still had a ton of fireflies.  I ended up stopping my render and postworking them out.

    Thank you!smiley

I note that you also set the Max Samples down to 100 (from the default 5000) - my first couple of renders seemed to  finish in a blink of the eye, but were very speckly until I raised the number. Is the 100 also an error or just optimistic?

ETA: Just to add that I do love the product and am very pleased I picked it up. Here's a first look from me (increased samples but FF filter not set "on"  as I hadn't noticed until I read the post above!)

Oh, my gosh! Too much cuteness!

All of the pix in this thread should have been promos!!! I would never have hesitated. I just hope it goes back to the MM discount soon.

    @Knittingmommy

Another setting you can try is  Render Settings>Optimization > Max Path Length and set to something between 8 and 11. The default allows and "infinite" number of light bounces.

(PA_ThePhilosopher: "I am guessing that the fireflies are due to the volumetric cube, since light bounces around inside it for an eternity it seems ")

I'll try that when I render it again.  Thanks!

As for making other HDRI's with different looks, I am planning on doing so in future releases. However, since this is my first skydome, I really don't know how much of a demand there is for them. If it totally flops in the store, it would be hard to justify releasing a whole series of follow-up skydomes. We'll have to wait and see.

    -P

Love your products... Please do a whole series of kick-ass skydomes!

Hi PA_ThePhilosopher . please keep making these great skydomes. If I can I would like to make a sugestion for one if I may .  I think a Stormy skys skydome would be awesome. . anyway this is my latest render using the epic skydome, that I paired with the epic lensflare  , great results  "Really a great HDRi skydome, " the stormy skys would be awesome to pair the iREAL water system hint hint..lol :)

I've done two images using this product, and I'd like to think they came out okay.  However, I cannot for the life of me get the shadows to show up reliably in the light cube provided, even with a fresh 'default' scene.  I've read the readme, and it doesn't answer my questions. (And no, the light cube object is not in the following images.)

    1.  Does the object itself have to be fully encased within the lightcube for the shadows to function?

    2.  Does the lighting have to be uber bright to get the shadows to show up?

    3.  Even at the lowest settings, I noticed that the light cube had distinct edges to it, even when at 45x45 degrees.

Is there a reason there are 5 HDR files and 1 PNG file? Why not all HDRs? From my understanding an HDR stores more levels of brightness and should be the preferred file, unless there's some reason I don't understand for having one of them as a PNG.  Also, why when I load all 5 HDRs, as skydome only, does it change my render iterations to 100? (Loading the PNG one doesn't do this at least.)  I find that rather annoying. When I load an HDR I don't want my render settings changed. I can understand if I load the scene files, but loading an HDR should leave my render settings as I have them.
