Wonderful set and I'll certainly get it, soon I hope, but I wonder if any of the buildings can be loaded singally? That is, is it all one big element or can I load individual items? I find that I'm in need of a building in this style (or close to) but I can't find anything that is just by itself, or can be loaded alone. Also it saves on memory when I'm only using one part of the town/street.

If not, there's always the Geometry editor - marquee select - hide+delete polygons (and remove unwanted maps from the surfaces tab if any remain).

Thanks, I didn't know about that tool.

    Well worth practising with.

From the Commons thread, Faveral says this is one fixed set (due to the terrain making separately useable buildings not viable).

My computer doesn't have an Nvidia GPU, so I have to render CPU-only. As you can imagine, with a set as detailed as this or MICK for example, it would take over a day to render.

This didn't take long to render, about an hour cpu only. I was wondering if the water is supposed to be so murky in color. Does it need more lights?

I've had a quick look at my copy.  All the buildings appear to be one single chunk of geometry. The buildings are not seperate.  There are literally dozens of material zones, however. Also, the viewport camera moves very fast.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Thank you. Doesn't sounds like I want it for that particular need - but its so beautiful I'll get it anyway.

i happily snagged it, and it's wonderful.

now i want an add-on set of stuff that will help give it that lively-lived-in-fishing-village touch of grace.

    :)

Sorry for the late replies I was on vacation abroad for 2 weeks.

    - The village is one single piece. The reason for this, as I said in the other thread is that there isn't one single flat surface in the terrain and the buildings and terrain are modeled to match each other.

    - The water is supposed to be murky but not as much as shown in the render above. Did you render it "sun/sky only or did you use an hdr to light the set? If so, yes, more light might be useful. You can also lighten the map called "dirt" in photoshop as it's the one that shows through under the water.

    - There are props you can find useful for making this a lively village in some of my older sets, like "Lake Village" . I think that's where you'll find most of the fishing related prop. Maybe some in Viking Village as well

    Fisherman morning

Just a couple of simple figures, AtmoCam, and basic PS manipulation.

This just a beautiful set, with so much potential. Bustling market, quiet morning, WWII, horror. Too many things to do now :)
