Will's Wyrms [Commercial]

Been working on this one a long time, so happy.

Turns dragons into snakes, basically, with a lot of in between room. The provided textures are designed for the changes in the mesh, but a number of existing textures can work fine.

Note that there are two body morphs, Wyrm Body and Wyrm Body Smooth.

Wyrm Body is suited to using with wings, while Wyrm Body Smooth is intended for wingless figures.

If you want to combine a Wyrm texture with a dragon texture, apply a geoshell, copy the wyrm texture to the geoshell, then apply the transparency for it (to show through the legs or wings or whatever is appropriate). Then put the other texture you want to the texture underneath. If you are using displacement on the wyrm texture, you may want to set Minimum Displacement to 0 so it lays comfortably on the dragon skin.

Here are some additional samples, showing some of the ways you can use existing figures and mix more with existing dragon content.

I had to hide the crystals on the legs, wings, and some around the chest, but while any dragon texture is going to 'pinch around missing legs, it turned out pretty smoothly.

The second image shows a dragon with the Wyrm Head and Viper Fangs morphs. There's a geoshell with a rattler wyrm skin on it and transparency for limbs applied, showing the standard dragon skin underneath (also hid geoshell visibility on things like claws, wings, eyes, mouth, etc)

Final image is https://www.daz3d.com/witherdreki-the-mummified-dragon-hd with Wyrm Body. With complex skins like that, the missing limbs can often blend naturally into the look.

 

Other items of note:

Feel free to use poses from other dragon sets, but remember to use the Zero legs pose to correct the legs or you'll get spaghetti legs.

    I don't know how you figured to come up with this.

    I was baffled because I didn't think this does what I think it does. lol

    1) So it starts out as a snake.

    2) Removes the limbs, repairs/covers the hole and makes the Daz Dragon series 3 products into giant serpents.

    3) Allows you to mix and match skin materials/textures across products so dragon with snake skin or snake with dragon skin?

    4) Allows a morph between shapes? Like a dial to mix the two together?

    Most of that, yes, but you can't really dial the main body morph partway or the legs still stick out.

    Wyrm head, thin tongue, and viper fangs, yes.

    And here's another skin that didn't make the promos that I'm pretty happy with, the Quetzal.

    It's basically a boa with a feathery texture.

    A feathered boa, if you would.

    (3DL render, I decided to reduce the Max displacement to make it a little less 'fluffy')

    A way to give Dragon 3 an elongated serpent head/neck and fangs, makes this an excellent idea!

    A way to create a winged serpent makes it more so!

    Now I just need someone to give Dragon 3 a streamlined shark theme or turn it into a plesioisaur, so that it can be used for making sea/lake monster art...

    There are 6 included poses (and then a zero legs pose) that serve as a good starting point to do various things. The big problem is that the effective number of bones, from tailtip to nose, is probably less than 1/4 of what a serpent 'should' have. That said, if you are careful and shut off a lot of limits, you can pull off some amazing looks. If you push bending too far, though, the tube may 'collapse' and look terrible.

    Xenomorphine: I've actually poked at some plesiosaur and pterosaur ideas a little ( https://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Pterosaur-695060665 ). If Wyrms does well enough, I have a number of further ideas.

    Ah, this sounds like a job for RiversoftArt's Dragon Master Pose Control for Dragon 3. It makes posing all of those bones a lot easier.

    That's a great-looking pterosaur! I honestly thought things like that were going to be among the first products for Dragon 3 when it came out.

    The problem with the pterosaur is the wing should properly go back along the legs and connect legs and tail.

    And frankly I'm not sure that's doable or worth doing, but... we'll see!

    Stezza: Tried to load it up, got garble. Doesn't look like it reads wingless geograft right... there might be a trick to geografts in Carrara, but I'm not aware of it.

  • any plan for wyrms add-ons? I would love colored snail skin shaders, gelatinous fins and antennas... please!

    Thanks, hope you go ahead, I would buy it. Also a  conforming mantle of alienlike semitransparent or half bioluminiscent mucus mantle, these would be very interesting becoming the wyrm into more scifi worm looking, just giving another idea.

    Could be like done on a new clothing only for the wyrm? I have no idea

    A feathered dragon? Oh God, yes. If it could load as different pieces (a mane, a wing piece, the tail's end, etc) it would be even better. Also, a hair equivalent would allow me to play with Falkor and finally get one over my childhood self (the smug little prick).

    I have a lot of ideas. One debate I'm having is whether I focus on an extension of Wyrm, or something for dragons more generally.

    Why not do three products? One for Proto Wyrms, another another for the Evolved Wyrm and and the other for Dinowyrms.

     

     Basic Feathered Wyrm or Proto-Wyrms with: Feathers for Spinal and head, Mucus for Spinal and head, Bioluminiscence version of Feathers/Mucus. Plus a new type of eyes or a new alienworm headshape for wyrms or sucking trumpet shapped mouth..

     Evolved Wyrm or Wyrm Sapien with: Feathers for legs and wings. Shape for Falkor-ite, Persian/Chinese DogDragon shape, and your humanoid/dragonfolk version shape with a subdragon hair but for Dragons. Falkor and DogDragon would need all the previous products to look completed. 

    Dinowyrms: Two or three dinosaur shapes for Dragon 3 (only one needs being historically rigorous) and different textures for feathers of both Basic Feathered Wyrm and Evolved Wyrm.
