4.10

When I opened DM, it just offered me the 4.10 upgrade.- and several more downloads.  (I thought the Mimic upgrade was interesting, becuae I wish to operate both LipSync AND Mimic, yet I have to run LipSync in 32-bit and Mimic in 64-bit, which has created a conflict, resulting in error messages everytime I start up 4.9.)

Anyway...After looking into 4.10 on the Forum, I noticed ...'D-Force?'

Not sure what that is (or means), yet.

So...since DM keeps prompting me to upgrade...

Well, I do have a LOT of old product. And my computer?- Powerful, once...upon a time.

I'm not sure how many have already upgraded, but I was wondering if I would run into any problems with my aging hardware and older product.

Will 4.10 run it as smoothly as 4.9 has?    (If I did upgrade, should I expect some conflicts?)

  • dForce is a dynamic clothing/cloth feature that is new with 4.10.

As for whether it will run on your computer, I don't know what your computer's specs are - CPU, GPU, OS, RAM, etc - so I can't say.

Apparently you do need a graphics card that can run OpenCL 1.2, or you need the OpenCL drivers for your CPU so it can do all the work, or you can get the drivers for both your CPU and GPU and let them work together.

Also, if you have an Nvidia GPU, be aware that some people are reporting problems with the 388 drivers crashing during dForce simulations, so "the latest drivers" is not going to be a valid suggestion here (not that it usually is anyway).

    Oh?

Sounds like 4.10 is more requirement-heavy than 4.9.

My specs include an Amdx4 processor with 8 ram, but I don’t trust my graphics card.  I had it upgraded, but I wasn’t that impressed with the upgrade’s performance.

I do experience software crashes with 4.9- occasionally.

Im curious to see what 4.10 is like; but a bit hesitant to quickly try it.

(Hopefully, it would run my older product.)

    Thank you for replying!

Older products should not be a problem.

If you have doubts about replacing your current version you could try installing the latest public beta instead of the General Release, so that you can have both 4.10 and your current version on your system.

You mean...download Beta (it's 4.9, I take it.)?   And also upgrade to 4.10?

Can 4.10 be uninstalled and 4.9 Pro reinstalled? (If need be)

...Say...does product need to be remigrated when downloading 4.10?

(if so, I'd better do it at night, and let it run.)

If you download the beta it will currently be the same version as the release, daz has for a while been updating the beta when the new version "goes gold" so both are the same.

    Is Beta current with 4.10?

    Or 4.9?

(Would Beta show me what 4.10 is like?  Or be more like 4.9)

Keep the 4.9 you have now. Download the beta, which is now 4.10 and the same as the NEW release version.

The beta is the same version as the release, so yes 4.10.  No download from Daz will give 4.9

A note: You need to "buy" DAZ Studio Beta before you can install it: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta

It also can only be downloaded through DIM.

And this post might also be of interest: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203076/daz-studio-pro-beta-version-4-10-0-107-updated#latest
