Hi Midnight, I want to make sure you understand that this product does not make billboards. It provides billboards (specifically party figures) for you to use.... though I am not adverse to making a Now-Crowd Billboards - Undead product, I was already considering making the Zombie Apocalypse
Hang on I better go back and read it, sorry I often do that !
And then there's hospitals, with nurses and doctors, and other environments where you'd expect to see lots of people in uniform... schools, military etc. Not to mention non-uniform crowds such as demonstrations and holiday-makers on the beach... :)
Well, I guess I will have job security
Posted in wrong thread. Whoops.....
Looks interestring. I'll be waiting for SPACE and Sci-fi figures....
its awesome and a great start, but I'll wait for billboarfds of more fantasy-space opera, or steampunk-space orbital party time
Don't forget sport stadiums
I really hope you are joking! Steampunk Space Orbital sounds awesome but is an obvious niche
Of course, that goes without saying
Now-Crowd Billboards - Party Time has been released today!
And in the cart.
Cool! Love to hear it! I am really interested in your impressions when you try it (good and bad) This is a new category of product for me. Everyone's feedback will be very important for improving the series going forward. Thanks.
Purchased and...
Over 10 GB of data?!?!?
*faints*
I think I have to clear up some space before I download this....
Yeah, that is a weakness of this product. 72 frames x 25 Billboards x (2048x2048 resolution minimum x 2 (Diffuse map and opacity map)) = GBs of space. I could have reduced the number of angles which would help but there is not a lot of other areas I can reduce it. And the angles really make the power of the product. I could perhaps reduce it by half but after that?!? The billboards need to be PNG; otherwise the shadows get all messed up. My hope is that if graphics and 3D are something people like that they have lots of hard drive space
On the positive side, I think I set a new record
Hi My friend I just bought this set and wow all I can say is wow the dowloads are so huge I don't think I can fit this into my normals directory do you have any advice on how to handle the size of this bill board set ?
Hi Ivy,
As long as all of the 72 frames for a billboard figure sequence are in the same directory, the Change Angle script will work. So, if you want, you can move the billboards to another drive. This will break the billboard presets but you can get around that. You will need to make the billboard in the scene yourself:
Can I use the set with out the script? or load the complete set in a flash Thumb drive? so I don't have to clog up my content directorywith som much data?
I should mention that the scenes created with these billboards are very small. Only the current frame of a billboard is needed. And if you are willing to have less angles, you can always delete frames from a billboard figure sequence freeing space on your HDD. The scripts do not care.
I'm think I'll go buy a 20 gig thumb flash drive and load the set on to it so I can just plugin to the PC when I need the prop will that work?
Yes, you can use the set without the script; the script isn't what takes space though. You can store the data whereever you want.
It should do, as long as you specify the flash drive path in Content Directory Manager. You'll also need to specify it as an additional installation path in DIM.
That will work. I haven't tested it, but if you put that path in the Content directories (Content Directory Manager, Daz Studio Formats), the billboards should be able to find it when you want it to. If it doesn't, you have to create billboards as I explained above.
Thanks guys thats the information I needed to know
stables is having a sale too so that is where I am heading to go pick up a couple of thumb drives. thank you for all the help :)
You're welcome! Best Buy is also having sales on external HD (1TB for $50)
That is even better :)
Wow, I can truly appreciate the work that went into this and the info in trying to get it to work for Ivy, but the file size alone is going to make me pass on this one. With my less than stellar internet, it would take me forever to d/l and I still have a few products in my library I am unable to dl due to crazy large file sizes. I hope it does well for you and if I ever get a better internet option in my area, I'll be sure to check it out again.
Daz really should start putting file sizes on the product pages as it sems they keep getting bigger and bigger, LOL.
No problem. I understand.
well I'm back I got 5 pack of 20 mb thumb drives at staples for $30. I'm dowloading the set now. I figured I'll load these big sets on a flash drive that way I can just plugin the thumb drive as I need them with out having to have another HHD drive to manage.I actually have a couple more products I'm going to do like this as well. , I already have 4 -2 Tb active content drives and 1 - 1TB work folder drive, not to mention the other 2- 4TB storage drives. I really don't 't want any more HHD drives to manage. I thinking my next move will to buy a 100TB Server at this pace of filling hard drive space up..lol
I'll let you all know how the thumb drive thingy works once I get everything downloaded and installed :)
I assume you meant 5 pack of 20GB? Good luck. Please do let us know how it works out, and what you think of the product!
You mention in the promo it's compatable with the other billboard product, the chief usefullness is you can rotate all the billboards to face the camera at the same time. I've created a number of my own billboards to work with that. What you seem to be adding is a way to use rotating figures, that is a script that will pick out the right version of the billboard based on a naming convention. That would be useful since the earlier version only works with a camera x-rotation pretty close to 0 (looking straight at the scene from ground level).
For scenes where the elevation angle of the camera changes, do all the billboards in the scene change at the same time by the script, or do you have to do that for each one individually? (I'm getting it either way, I was just curious)
