Sydney 8

  • I like Sydney a lot. I'm making an animated series and I'm looking at the script and I have characters from all different age ranges, then I look at who I have and notice that if the character is 20-35, I'm set whether it's a guy or girl, otherwise if they're older I really only had Floyd and Mabel until Christian and now her. What I want to do is pick her up later today and see what a morph would look like with Mei 8's face, then I could possibly have the mom to the main character show up.

And that loft looks amazing, I had that in my cart before Syndey was there. Plus the deals for the hair, shoes, and clothes worked out fantastic as I can finally get the Shaft hair so I can have sideburns and the Hanoi fashion outfit is something I've had in my cart and taken out so many times it's ridiculous, so I'm stoked to finally be able to snag it. Then I saw they had the alt style glasses for the gen 8 models as well and am going to pick that up too as none of my characters have glasses up to this point. Then I saw they had Chuck Taylors and that got me excited to have some sneakers.

I guess I'll be putting in an extra four or five hours of driving for Lyft this week to balance this out :)

Actually I kinda like her, but not much of what's in her bundle. I will agree tho that the makeup is just.....uuuuuuurgh. Wow, I've never seen ANYONE outside of a magazine add wear any makeup like that and  NO ONE that old and weathered wear any makeup like that. And the orange continues...but that's what I have Altern8 for ;).

Nope, never seen makeup quite that gaudy, especially on an older woman. LOL I will agree tho that she looks like the woman who's been smoking and drinking at the corner of the bar for 20 years (but that's part of her charm...lol).

I like her.  A lot.  Just two things.

1: When you use hair, clothing, or items in a promotional render and you don't identify them in footnotes, god punches a kitten in the stomach.

2: Is it just me, or does it rub anyone else wrong that some figures have HD included and some don't?  I want the figure, a lot, but I also want the HD, and it feels like I'm being charged extra for it because it was included with Edie and Mable and Floyd and... I mean, I want a _lot_ of the core figures and haven't bought them yet because it just leaves a brown taste in my mouth that the HD is another (depends on the rabais du jour) bucks.  (But I did buy several anyway, so I guess I'm not sending a very clear message.  It still chaps my fanny, though.)

    I want this hair. Hell, I want the figure, but I _really_ want this hair. >.>;;

Yeah there should be links to the products used. I want the hair and outfit on the promo.

here's the outfit and add on textures though that specific brown colour for the top isn't any of the textures so probably some leather shader

it was outfit released for Gia 8

The wrinkles look alright, but the skin...how can this be considered "realistic"? I have looked at this image on multiple screens, a OLED smartphone, a LED TV, and washed out laptop screen, and the skin looks cartoonish to me. The Daz Orange is on full display here and totally over powers the image. The bumps do not look natural and are too strong. The reflections look way too unnatural. Her nose looks like actual wax, not skin. And I haven't even mentioned the makeup. Her irises look too saturated to be natural, like they will glow in the dark.

Apart from the usual awful eye make-up (have none of the Daz girls ever heard of blending?!), I quite like the base. Not enough to be in any great rush to buy her, but I imagine she'll make my runtime eventually.

As much as it makes me cringe, I have to tell you - for very much of America, for people her (and my) age, that eye makeup is kind of the epitome of ladylike beauty. :)  I'm just glad you can turn it off.  (You can turn it off, I hope...) ;)

Yea but even **I** blended my eye makeup when I did drag back in the day.  Allot of the makeup for some of these females are just garish.  Nothing I'd wear!  LOL  Blend stumps come in handy and should be used at all times.  Now if your looking for a "hard biker chick" sort of look I guess the unblended eye shadows work for that sort of look!  Plus women with laugh lines and the beginnings of wrinkles ALWAYS blend out the makeup and put a finishing mist/spray over the top to keep it from seeping into the lines!

The eyebrows are way too plucked for me. Seriously. Not all women pluck their brows and those eyebrows look super bad to me and so overdone.what about natural less uniform eyebrows?

Well MOST women I know and I'm up close and personal with the clients since I'm a hairdresser, MOST do pluck and shape as the eyebrow hair begins to grow in different directions.  Many suffer with a loss of hair there too so they have me tint what's there to make it show more.  So while I agree with you for younger characters, gals of this age, in my history of working with women (for over 35 years) MOST do pluck and shape their unruly brows!

I must live a sheltered life then. LOLOL Never seen it nor would I wear it. I never wore much makeup and now don't wear any because I have Grave's opthamalopathy and it all irritates my already irritated eyes, but....frost on a woman with wrinkles? I thought that was a big no-no. LOL

At any rate, it doesn't make much difference in the end, because if it's diffuse overlay or LIE makeup, it's probably interchangeable between textures and I can use someone else's less garish makeup :). Yay for all having the same uvs!

Becasue it apparently IS a normal skin color in Salt Lake CIty, Utah, where DAZ is based.  Seriously.  Utah is the spray tan capital of the U.S. by a crazy wide margin:  https://www.artesiantan.com/blog/in-which-states-is-spray-tanning-the-most-popular/

For extra fun, Googlemap Salt Lake and do a search for Spray tan.  Ta da!  The whole city lights up like a Xmas tree.

Out of curiosity, does she come with a pure nude option without brows? It says she has make-up options with and without brows, but couldn't figure out if that meant there's a nude face without it.

And I'm also a bit confused how it can be considered nude/no make-up when it sure as heck look like she's having make up on (in that example that Louis Fransisco did, it might be my eyes fooling me though)

  • Could someone post a picture of Melinda without Sydney please? Looking at the shapes of both character's faces, I'm guessing the biggest difference without Sydney would be the shape of the chin. I like the look of Melinda's skin textures, so I might be tempted if the character morph is still distinctive enough.

It may be regional but I did it when younger but not when older.

I prefer thicker natural brows, and riding a bIke is going to produce some hairs not lying flat to the face. These look like the moleskin eyebrows people glued to their faces during the regency period.

Her default is with no makeup thankfully or I would have had to send her back ;). This is with the hd morph at 50% strength and all I changed about her skin is that I used the low translucency option rather than the default (I think the defaults that Daz use are way too high for normal human skin). The hair and eyes tho are chevybabe's cause....I just can't stop using em. LOL :P Lighting is the default HDRI map at 60% rotation. And the brows are not hers, but V8's

Sorry, but I find her really unattractive, kind of like Stephanie 8’s older sister. Mousso’s character is great of course, and I like one hair and outfit but the offers that go with this are way too complicated and not sure if it’s worth my time and money to figure out.,.

I like to see more unacttractive characters. We have enough super models wink

I have a ton of morphs including the aging morphs. It’s much easier to make a character ugly than beautiful. I rarely need unattractive models and if I need one, I can make one...

I am wondering what Mousso’s character looks like without Sidney though. I haven’t read the whole thread yet but if no one has posted it and if anyone would like to do a render of her sans Sidney, I’d love to see it...smiley

Two questions to those who might have gotten her already

    1. can someone make a quicke render of her "nude" face, say what should be no makeup at all. In that context, did I see that right that the eyebrows are meant to look painted on?

    2. A render of Alabama without Sydney please, she looks excellent in the promos

    Thanks!

A quick render. Sydney, Alabama, Alabama sans Sydney

Oh, I knew I should have finished the thread before responding. Alabama sans Sidney looks better to me than with... I already have a ton of Mousso’s characters though so this will probably end up on my wish list. Right now there is no incentive for me really to get the bundle.

When hubby and I see someone that age or older wearing garish bright colored makeup and lip color, we just say 'damn she looks hard'.  They're too old for that, tone it down.

Her skin color looks like spray on tan or that tan lotion from the grocery store. Yep, altern8 is the solution. Going to use the 'no brow' option and use one of my brow packs to solve that issue.  I still see women with those little pencil line brows drawn on around here, and it looks ridiculous.  Well her and every evil queen I've ever seen.

I don't see in her description that she has a no-makeup option.  Is that for real??  Is she all makeup all the time?  That can't be. If so, how can it be fixed?

Not sure about expressions.  I like the EJ Mixable pack cuz they look more natural.  The No Mercy pack looks raged out like she has anger issues and some odd lip tucked in things like she's saying 'oops'. She can't be angry all the time can she?  Anyone got either of these?  Does rage work well for her, or the more normal ones?  I'm torn.

I like the Shady Vale outfit but I see they've made a mistake by putting a plain front on one green dress and the other one has a dragon.  I think the one with the dragon is supposed to be there and the plain one should be removed. Because when you look at the backs of them, they're exactly alike.  So I'd go with the dragon dress and delete the plain one from the promo. Cuz the dragon is more interesting that a plain dress. (image attached)

I'm going to get her, just wondered how the different expression packs look...rage or normal.  Also, is there really not a 'No makeup' option?  It's scary to drop this much money again right on the back of Nix.  I haven't even downloaded his bundle yet. crying

Another prime example with Sydney 8. So so weird. I don't get any purple banner discounts when the Genesis 8 male characters come out, which I buy I every time anyway, but when the chicks come out Daz can't help but roll out the discount carpet. I know I've answered my own puzzlement, but it seems so counterproductive. I've never bought a female PRO bundle until it sells at K-Mart bargain bin price, but as for the guys, I usually snatch them as soon as their nose pokes through the Daz store. So no discount for loyalty, just for trying to get you to buy goods you never buy nor want.

Yeah, same here. Didn't get a loyalty discount for Christian 8...which I probably would have bought with the purple banner discount (since the only bundles I own are all males)---but got one for Sydney 8...which I have absolutely zero interest in buying. It continues to amaze me that we constantly hear "males don't sell" and I think it is obvious in the deals offered by Daz why they don't sell as well...there is an unbelievable difference in the quality of the female deals vs. the male ones.

    Oh, well, it's Daz's loss...

Weird, I had an amazing deal for the Christian 8 bundle but find this one not very impressive even with my purple banner. If they had offered a full $80 free for any Daz Originals, I might have gone for it, but I already own most of what I want in the categories and I don’t like that they are in separate categories so you are forced to pay extra or get something really cheap. I guess if I REALLY liked Sydney I would go for it, but I only like three things in the bundle...
