Hey! My render here...
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4255811/#Comment_4255811
Made it into this video by Dangerville discussing the very subject "Bride of Godzilla".
It first appears at the 2:27 mark and appears a couple of more times.
I had no idea they used it, but I'm quite flattered!
Sincerely,
Bill
I just watched Kong: Skull Island again recently, and of course I've watched the Legendary Pictures Godzilla a few times. I like the Toho movies too of course, but Legendary Pictures has been doing a pretty good job so far.
Monarch is my favorite secret organization! The nice thing about having both of those movies on DVD is using pause or 'play extremely slow' features on your DVD remote so that you can read all of the stuff that flies by in the intro. I loved the executive order signed by Harry S. Truman authorizing the nuking of a MUTO.. that shows up for only a few frames, so it's easy to miss if you don't have the pause button or slo mo handy.
Anyways, both of those movies are awesome, so I have higher expectations than usual for this one!
@Redfern
Pretty cool that they borrowed your render for that video!
Okay, "King of the Monsters" officially opens today (while many theaters started running last night).
Let's see some eye popping kaiju renders!
Shoot, if you don't think you can do the "Big G" justice, then regale us with your instroduction to "man in suit" type films or maybe just tell us your favorites and why.
Sincerely,
Bill
Dr. Daisuke Serizawa, the only person to vanquish Godzilla. Maybe I should clarify that by saying the original Serizawa (played by Akihiko Hirata) and the original Gojira as their relationship is very different in the new "King of the Monsters" (not to be confused with the 1956 "edit" of 1954's "Gojira"). Boy, it's getting really confusing at this point!
Anyway, my goal was to try capturing Hirata's features without stumbling into racial parody. Even without the famous eye patch, Hirata had distinctive features, particularly his nose. Rather than it being wide and somewhat flat, his was narrow, a tad protruding and when seen in profile, the "bridge" had a slightly convex arch. Also, at that point in his career, his face was somewhat thin and quite triangular. I won't claim I created a perfect likeness, but hopefully those elements along with the notable patch makes him somewhat recognizable. I used the "Elite Faces: Lee" for M4 as a starting point and totally reworked the nose.
The infamous "oxygen destroyer" prop is a Blender freebie offered by Vrahno, a rather witty digital artist at Deviant art and animator upon YouTube.. I exported the item as a .OBJ and then tweaked it to look better in Poser. the diving gear is Cybertenko's. I boought a long time ago primarily to do a Serizawa scene. I finally got around to it.
Sincerely,
Bill
great job, Bill
...very nice
I was watching the 'Double Toasted' review of the Asylum Pictures 'Mockbuster' of Godzilla vs Kong, called "Ape vs Monster" :
I learned the reason their Godzilla Rip-off looks so much better than their Kong rip off is because its a 3rd party figure.
Don't know who made it, though.
Here is the trailer for the movie:
Nice, saves me the time of hunting it down
Any chance you (or somebody else out there) can provide 'glowing fin' textures for it?
Godzilla-related activity in the Daz+ monthly challenge. I did a tribute to a 1970s Mad Magazine cover image. The actual cover was titled 'Mad Overboard.' It had the familiar Alfred e Newman theme 'What, me worry?' I did this variation with 3DUniverse's toon Gramps! and Aiko/Callie 6.
