Compatibility between Victoria 4 and Victoria 6

I notice a lot of stuff on the shop that is designed for 4 while I just bought a few 6.
For example I have Victoria 6 and Giselle 6 but sometimes I notice some things for Victoria 4.

If I buy these, will they work as well or will I have some issues with those?

Thanks.

That depends what it is, and what add-ons you have. You can use whatever 4 clothes and textures on Genesis, clothes via AutoFit and textures directly. You can then save the clothes as Genesis clothes and AutoFit those to Genesis 2 (which is what the generation 6s are), and if you have Victoria 5 you can use Map Transfer to convert the textures. You can get -- 4 for Genesis 2 --- to have AutoFit and maps work directly between the fourth generation and Genesis 2. It is possible to use the Transfer utility to transfer morphs, or you can use the GenX plug-in with the add-ons for the figures you want to convert to and from.

DAZ has a Compatibility Matrix to indicate what will work with what.

Here is my experience with things:

Morphs or character head/body shapes - You can transfer head/body shapes from V4 to G2F with GenX2 and G2F/M add on. I have done this quite a bit and it works well. You do have to own V4 and V4 morph++ as well as GenX2 and the G2F/M add on to do that. Without all that you really can't transfer the shape. You can use a skin texture from a character without the shape.

Skin Textures or materials - If you own V4 for G2F you can use V4 skin materials on G2F with some work. G2F requires skin materials to be in DUF format and V4 skin materials seldom come in that format. You need to load the skin materials onto V4 (or Genesis 1 if you don't own V4) and save them as a material preset. Then you can use them on G2F. I have done this frequently. There are limitations to this. Some skin with large fancy tattoos or really fancy eye makeup may not look quite right, but normal skins seem to work fine.

Hair - if you own V4 for G2F you can autofit hair, but AutoFit sometimes causes problems with female hair. You are usually better off to simply parent the hair to the head and manually adjust it to fit. You don't need V4 for G2F to do that.

Clothing - If you buy V4 for G2F you can autofit V4 clothes to G2F. Autofit sometimes works well, sometimes not so well. There is no way of knowing how well an outfit will work until you try it. V4 shoes have a low success rate with autofit. Long skirts have problems with autofit. Sickle Dress Rig Genesis 2 Female improves autofit on long skirts and dresses.

Poses - V4 poses will work on G2F, but they will not come out quite right, especially in the hands. The product Handy Dandy is very useful for fixing hand poses for V4 on G2F. Expect to do some manual adjustment after using a V4 pose on G2F.

Trouble shooting and found this thread. I have purchased some V4 clothing. I do not own V4. I only own V6, G2f and Morphs, and a few other 6 characters. I have autofit. But things don't work very well. If I unerstand what was said here I need to get V4 and the V4 morphs for the autofit to work correctly.

If that is correct I'm assuming I just have to get the base V4 and Morphs.

Any help is appreciated as to what exactly I need to own other than the autofit and what I mentioned I have above.
    thanks

No, you don't need Victoria 4 and her morphs. You need "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 females", which will add support for Victoria 4 to the Genesis 2 Female AutoFit dialogue.

As far as I know, purchasing V4 and/or the V4 morph++ will NOT improve autofit at all.

Autofit has limitation. I assume you have Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female. Without that autofit will not work very well.

Sickle Dress Rig Genesis 2 Female does improve autofit for long dresses.

What clothing items are you having trouble with? Perhaps you can post some screen shots of the results you are getting.

That does answer the question and that is something I did not have
    thank you
