Thank you, but not whilst I'm driving the getaway car ... ;)
Awesome! Huan Zhu Ge Ge fan images, here I come! :)
Beautiful, Cath...quite the eye for detail! :)
Thanks everyone , I used old pictures from 1900 for references .. they have so much details I was like OMG .. but going with passion into this new challenge .. working tonight on the mini modeling details of the fabrics then texturing .. to bring it back to life
also technical little stuff, the head things that hang on ( don't know the right name ) will move automatic with gravity , so when you pose the head it will follow the gravity
Mec4D - the DazStudio sorceress!
I would call them Tassels ...
in my country we call them Pompon but I guess Tassels working too :)
Beautiful work.
Thanks ibr_remote
working on the clothing setup ..
This looks amazing. I'm always in awe of your work, and love seeing historical costumes like this in development.
Beautiful work again!! I realized today that I have all but 1 item from your store here, at this rate you will soon have all my money...lol keep up the fantastic work, all the time and effort you put into it is very much appreciated!! :)
Thanks Jindi and Kharma
I love historical clothing as I learn a lot while making them .. researching , reading story ..it is a nice challenge and adventure into different world .. I figured out that the Manchurian women did not practiced foot binding as it was forbidden for them , for that reason they invented the Flower Pot shoes so they can walk the same way as the women that practiced foot binding..
Kharma ..take it easy, don't want you to get on summer diet :) I have 9 products for July-August already in the PASS parking lot testing at this moment ..
bellow is the technical extra for the automatic gravity , when you pose the head front back side to side the pompons will fall with the gravity , also great for animation or dancing poses .. to go with the flow .. as they was consider this little detail as a beauty for the reason they hang it on the head decor
Nice! I LOVE the auto-gravity on the tassles! IK, I suppose?
Thanks, not ... reverse deformation JMCs with ERC freeze controlled by XZ controlled by Genesis head , the tassels are part of the full head decoration so not separate props . I figured it out when I was doing hair for my contractor .. so the hair can move in real time with the gravity when animated without dialing anything up ..
Oh I like that idea, I have trouble getting things like long hair or dangling earrings to look like they are hanging at the correct angle when tilting the head or other specific movements, this is great that the movement is built in so to speak.
I will use it for her earrings too and hand tissue , so it fall in directions of the hand as personally I hate to dial each time the adjustment morphs when you posing especially when doing animation , and I am for plan to make this year second part of the Land of the Dragon animation but with people this time ...
painting the dress as we speak :)

Mec4D, you're one of the few PAs who take the plunge, make quite historically-accurate outfits and, I assume, can earn enough to do that - sheer awe, congratulations. I really enjoy seeing all your creations - this one will certainly catch my eye too! I'm more interested in the clothes than the hairdo, but nonetheless I hope for many promos to drool at .
Thanks Cecilia .. after 16 years it is still worthy doing it and I love doing it as each project bring me somewhere else :)
so nice to have you on board this time ...wait only for the details .. it is going to be awesome I promise ..including the hairdo ! ;)
This outfit is beautiful cannot wait for this.
Thanks Sorel :)
Here is little preview of the dress.. without folding yet .. just color and base normal maps..
You make it sound ... normal? easy? - but I bet it is a LOT of work!
Lovely textures!
just WoW!!! {Je restes scotché sur ma chaise}
I stay glued to my chair doing it hahahha
here is early preview just for your references so you get better idea .. still not shoes ..but that tomorrow
P.S textures are G2F Bree
This is a lovely picture - the background, colours, composition ... beautiful!
Thanks Kerya, still need to make fan, hand tissue and jewelry
The issue with reverse deformation JCMs in a prop is that they'll get entirely mis-tipped too easily: I tried this once with a bottle of liquid, and if it was parented to a hand, the hand rotations didn't do (obviously) what the arm rotations, or the bottle rotations, did. Either one has to link the ERC to every affecting axis, risking an overcompensation when multiple axes are turned together, or use IK and a rotation handle to make it more-or-less world-based. If you can make the morph work, no matter which axis tilts the head, more power to you for it.
Probably easier to do with an item attached to the head than the hand, but we'll find out when she gets to the hand tissue! (It would be really wonderful if this method would work on draping the sleeves...)
I'd be more worried about how to keep those clothing layers from colliding!
I have Chinese historical drama music stuck in my head now. ;)
