DS4.7 questions

Having installed the newest iteration of DS i find myself somewhat confused and not a little weary. I found to my dismay that my setup for 4.6 had been replaced by a different one and its taken me hours to get things as i like them. Not complaining, this is a matter of preferences after all. Two things do concern me however, the first is the ability to change the background colour seems to have gone missing, i am sure its there somewhere, but i can't find it. It was a part of the little thing on the top right of the view screen, but isn't anymore.
The other thing and much less important although a little confusing is despite having installed the new version and it working properly, it would seem. The screen icon remains the one for 4.6, wondering why?
See the two screen shots. Any help would be appreciated

I think the background is now under Environments.

Haven't updated my DS 4.6 yet so I may be wrong.

Backdrop is in the Environment pane, viewport background colour has moved to Window>Style>Customise Colours. I covered the changes in the FAQ, linked below.

A couple of people have reported similar oddities with the taskbar button, but it isn't universal (I don't get it, for example).

I have a shortcut on my start menu for DAZ Studio. It stayed on the 4.6 orange logo until I shut down my computer. When I restarted the next day, it had changed to the blue 4.7 icon.

I've seen some oddities with the icons also, I submitted a bug report for the things I was seeing.

After you have set up your workspace the way you like it, you can save that so you can back it up and/or get back to it later. I don't remember exactly what customizations it catches, but I know it covers things like the window and tab layouts and so on:

    To save custom layout:
After making any layout changes such as arranging tabs, Window > Workspace > "Save Layout As...", call it a name you will remember. Go to "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4" and back up the "user layouts" folder.

To restore the custom layout you saved:
On a fresh install, copy your backed-up layout folder to "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4". Run DAZ Studio. From the menu, Windows > Workspace > Select Layout: Set Layout dropdown to the name of the layout you saved.

For any customizations it doesn't save, I would suggest writing them down as you do them, that way you can just follow your previously written instructions next time and it should only take a few minutes to do, very painless.

Have to thank you for your responses which have helped. However the DS icon remains the old 4.6 icon despite having logged off three times since posting. Not a big deal though, causes no distress at all. Thanks to Sean Riesch for the tip about saving the layout, unfortunately i am using a mac and could not follow his paths to saving the layout. Changing the workspace background is okay if a little clunky, much more practical as it used to be i think. Many thanks ...

Thank you, I was also trying to change the background color. The video tutorials are very helpful except where they show the background color was not on my screen.
