Please Help Confused About Victoria 4 Options!
Hi,
I've recently got in to Daz Studio after having dabbled in various packages over the years, I'm having a lot of fun and learning too. However, I'm now downloading a fair number of digital assets to make my scenes; a number of issues have arisen and I'm not sure how to proceed.
I want to use clothes and poses for the Victoria 4 model since there is so much content, I want to use high quality rendering, but I', not sure at all how to proceed. The options as I see them.
OPTION A
Morph my Genesis 2 Character to Victoria 4 using the package from the shop.
I can now use V4 clothes and poses and props.
Can I still use Genesis 2 poses?
Her G2 clothes no longer fit?
I assume this is a good solution since G2 comes with better textures?
OPTION B
Morph V4 Clothes to fit Genesis 2
How well does this work really.
Now I can't use V4 poses?
Props designed for V4 and her poses won't work without clipping issues?
OPTION C
Buy Victoria 4.2 Model
Now I can only use V4 clothes and poses
I can morph my G2 clothes to VIctoria?
Worse base textures for V4 Model?
I can't use G2 poses?
I'm not looking to save money, though I don't want to waste it of course. I'm looking for the best quality and most expandable solution. For me this saves me time and gives me the flexibility I want. Maybe there are options I've not considered?
I'm about to buy a fair few assets from the shop, I'm trying to avoid getting screwed over by gotchas. Thanks for anyone who can help!

Add the clothing to your model but they don't fit correctly? Try right clicking the clothing item and click Fit to. an option may appear asking what model the item was made for. click Vic 4 then the item it is ie dress. see if this works.
this image is made using childrens clothing.
There's no option to "Morph V4 clothes to fit G2F", the only way to use V4 clothes on G2F is autofit. After you've autofit the clothes they will work with the G2F base shape though.

Now I can only use V4 clothes and poses

I can't use G2 poses?There's no easy way to use G2F clothes on V4.
G2F poses won't work perfectly on V4, again due to rigging differences.
V4 has a huge number of textures available, recent ones are usually as high-quality as G2F textures.
G2 clothes won't work on Victoria 4. Genesis uses Tri-Ax weightmap tech while Victoria 4 uses much older parametric rigging. You'd have to manually re-rig and morph the entire outfit to fit V4, which is a mountain of work. Genesis 2 poses may work, but certainly not as well as proper V4 poses would. Much in the same way that V4 poses work on Genesis, but not necessarily in the way you'd like.
One thing to remember about Genesis 2 Female is that shaping her will also shape any outfits compatible with her. This means outfits you've autofit to the figure will continue to fit, as will any existing Genesis 2 items. Doesn't matter whether she's been morphed into a toddler or a half-orc, the clothing will flex to match.
For that reason, Option A will work fine. The V4 morph will still give you the full flexibility of Genesis 2, you'll be able to use all of your existing clothing, materials and morphs for Genesis 2 Female, and you'll have the advantage of autofitting any V4 items you own to the figure. Additionally you can use classic Genesis which will auto convert quite nicely.
Thanks everyone for the replies; I guess the main restriction then is the rigging...
I had some trouble with the forums which is why I was absent from the thread. It appears my control panel tells me that my posts don't exist! I had to use google to find them, weird.
