About using old content files with new Daz

Hi folks, long time no see!
I have been out of the Daz loop for awhile, but have got to get back into it.
My question is about using old Daz products with the newer versions with the download installer.

Here's the pinch, I have created important characters for a Trilogy story.
I have created the characters in Daz 4,5 pro. I bought it a few months before everything went free.
Since then I have installed newer Daz versions onto another computer, it has the direct Downloader feature,
How do I get my old content, (Clothes, hair and Genesis character morphs) Into the new direct download version.

PS My Daz and art computers are not online, (Paranoia) I used to come to this Net Café and download onto a stick, then store and load content when I needed it.

Feels nice to get back.

Not sure what you mean here? Do you mean DIM (DAZ Install Manager), if so, it has nothing to do with any version of DAZ Studio, it is a DAZ Studio and Poser content installer for DAZ 3D products.

How do I get my old content, (Clothes, hair and Genesis character morphs) Into the new direct download version.

Direct download version? The content is see by DAZ Studio in the same way that it has always been used.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and enter the path to your content library as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats in there. DAZ Studio will then display them in the Content Library pane.

Do you mean that you want to use DIM on one computer, and then transfer your content over to another?

    Thanks for the reply.
I may be completely wrong here.
As I understand things, once DIM was introduced I could no longer store my downloads on my stick, they go directly into DAZ.
Perhaps I tonight will open up the DIM Daz and attempt to load an old file (Say M4 pirate) and see if it works?
I was overloaded with projects when DIM came out (18 months ago?) Therefore never really under stood it,
Plus my old system worked pretty good,
    Thanx again.

DIM does not install directly into DAZ Studio. It installs, by default, to : C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library which is the new preferred folder for DAZ Studio content, but, you can install content using DIM to whatever folder you want (within reason, not for example Program Files)

I have several install locations for DIM to use, and I often switch between them, depending on what I am installing. I have a content folder for Generation 4 content, another for Generation 3 content, and other ones as well.

You do not load content into DAZ Studio from DIM, it is merely an installer, it puts content where you tell it to if you change the default location. You MUST tell DAZ Studio where that content is installed to in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager so that it can display and load it from the Content Library pane as usual.

You can certainly download and install content without using DIM at all, in any version of DAZ Studio. All (or most) content now comes in ZIP files contain a folder called 'Content'. You simply remove the contents of that folder, and put them into whatever folder you want to use as a DAZ Studio library folder, and you can have many of them if you want to.

Hope that clears it up a bit for you?

I have just returned to the net Café.
    Thank you.
I kinda understand DIM ...finally - and will save this post as things get going again.
