I have seen this for the first time today with the space bundles. I can't say as I like having to scroll horizontally and vertically, and everything (in Safari, on a Mac) seems very big. It also seems to contrast with the main store page and with the sales tab. Perhaps I find the darker look hard to deal with. It will take some time to get used to this, if I do.
I don't have any strong feelings about it. It'll take some getting used to it, but nothing jumps out at me as being significantly better or worse than the old layout. The difference in color scheme from the main store page is a little jarring, though.
I got hit by the new store layout on my Android tablet today.
Its design hurts both my eyes and my brain. If you ever manage to make it significantly less user unfriendly, it might actually rise to "plain hideous" from where it has sunk to right now.
Got the black product page design today and can't say I see it as an improvement to the old design.
Don't try to fix things that ain't broken.
New isn't always automatically "better".
My 2 cents.
So looking at it more, I don't mind the dark pages, I prefer that actually for my eyes, but simple things like who the PA is, I'm having to search for it to find them. Before, you click on the item and the PA was pretty much right in your line of sight.
The white text on the black background glares too harshly for me. It hurts my eyes. I already have some vision issues that I was born with, as well as glaucoma, and this just doesn't work for me. They should fix it so there's a choice. We should be able to toggle the mode we like better. That way everyone would be happy.
Also, the black pages are too cluttred. I like the original page layout. It was simple and clean, easy to look at. These black pages have too much going on in them and I have a hard time finding anything in them.
The update shall hence forth be known as the Dark Pages for Daz.
It reminds me of Deviant Art's UI update. I've pretty much stopped using deviant art and avoid it like the plague. Artstation is intuitive and works. The thing that I simply cannot unlearn and reprogram myself is "Right Click Open" on images and stuff. That's now just as wonky with this new DAZ UI.
I think that the DAZ Web designers threw in everything hap hazardly without understanding what the hot mess will look like in the end. For instance, large images are great... but now it hides and obfuscates lots of information. Now I need to scroll around to find information because... large images. But wait there's more! There's now more rows of big pictures down below to scroll through, and otherwise distract me from actually looking at the product, and missing details. (Why did something think that was important?)
Why are 'categories' in any way now a more important thing for me to see? Maybe that's useful... but I have serious concerns based on actually using them in the actual daz store. They are just plain wrong on some stuff. (A few weeks ago... sale items were listed.. I sort by category 'fantasy' and the textures show up for an item. Not the item... Why?) I've literally been conditioned over and over and over to avoid them.
Does anyone at Daz know that "New Arrivals" also doesn't work? Yeah... if its your default it does nothing. You have to select something else then select New Arrivals. Maybe bug fixing should be higher priority that new whatever this is supposed to do?
Oh hey! A killer Feature for the store that will generate cash flow, FIND TEXTURES OR UPDATES FOR ITEMS I OWN.
I don't want to hunt for things. Its a serious waste of my time. Don't you guys get that? On any level?
It wasn't broken before but it's definitely broken now. LOL
If you are trying to reduce sales by confusing your customers, you have succeeded!
I would like to see the What's Included and Notes default expanded instead of having to expand each section.
Another quibble with the new product page layout is the showing all images in carousel does not present an image of focus. The viewer not to have a focus point when they land on the page. A typical focus flow is top to bottom and left to right.
As for the library/search results page the big items are show only owned and the reverse. Also upto 250 results per page would be nice. The filter on the left is good the way it is when veiwing on desktop browser.
The changes to the store website funcationality are frustrating, anxiety inducing, and mostly this week rage quit close the website and walk away. Not a warm fuzy customer experience. spent $100 this month at Daz on products. taking my monthly disposable funds elsewhere for the time being until all this chaos gets sorted.
for me it's just too much stress to shop at Daz lately. feeling sad really.
As a regular user of the DAZ store I am Horrified at this new format for the product pages, ugly, difficult to navigate and generally a pain in the neck.
yeah, they definitely are not trying to sell us more with this website
I will buy textures to items I own later if I am aware of them but that was never easy to know and now is just about impossible to know
in spite of all my whinging and threats to not buy stuff, I still do shop here and I suspect most the others that complain do too, the ones who truly walk away are no longer posting in the forum either.
We are complaining because parting with our money is becoming harder
not that we don't want to
To be honest, the new product pages look, meh IMO. Not good, not bad. Just needs some elements to be resized/relocated in some places
I really like the speed and ease of navigating the new layout. Although my vision is as good as ever, I find I like the bigger fonts too. What I really don't like is the light text on dark background. It gives it a uncouth beating my chest sort of gamer look. I know DAZ want to market to gamers first, it's a much huger market, but that color scheme is so 2000s pirate bay ripoff sites style.
Wouldn't that be the shop page with the "only show owned" box checked?
Look all over for this! Who hid it in the sticky? I never look there.
Anyhoo. I started another thread that they killed. (now we know who the thread killer is) because I hate the new black pages and they are basicly stolen from renderosity so you can't even say you are trying to do something new. Kind of like NEW COKE and we all know how that ended. Will us old farts know how that ended.
That is from the Daz Deals plug-in, it isn't part of the basic site.
Wait... What? There's a plug in to make the Daz website useable? When did this start happening? And why does it need to exist?
So you can have a ton of great customization options. :) (Okay, I might be slightly biased... :D) You can check it out here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/106296/announcing-daz-deals-browser-add-on/p1
If the new changes I've seen here and there are a part of this, I don't link any of it. None of it is helpful. Time will tell.
Making the biggest picture look like garbage when you first click on the item... doesn't seem like a great marketing ploy.
Just sayin'
One quick fix might be to simply make the preview images larger, and to make them color pictures instead of greyed out.
Whichbrowser and OS are you using? Several people have reported these issues but others don't see them (me included, Windows 10 using Firefox)
..so, since DAZ want feedback, here goes...
I've spent my money elsewhere for a year or so, maybe longer. During that period most DAZstore/website related things have gone from bad to worse in my honest opinion. Today I decided to visit the store and check out some products. I clicked on one, and after having been faced with some really bad promos being in the wrong pixel ratio, having been forced to click my way to the essential "what's included" and having gotten a strong vibe of unprofessionalism in general, I called it a day. That's all:)
HATE IT.
Now I have used it a bit more:
Is there any way to turn off the new (black) store pages? They are extremely confusing, and it takes me like 5x longer to look something up.
I don't believe that Daz understands how a buyer uses the Product Information page that they just updated. When we did software development we found it useful to take a person unfamiliar with what we were developing and watch them try to use the software. If they would take someone used to using the old pages and sit them down in front of the new page and watch them to see what is working and what is not it might help.
I cannot read the white on black lettering as others have stated and yes I read about the product normally before buying. Yes, the description is normally useless fluff, but not always. The "What's Included and Featured" normally has all the details I need to make a good purchasing decision. Having to open 2 menu items to see the information I need is ridiculous. It's like you don't think this information is important.
The new page is strictly "make more additional sales" driven and not helpful to a person actually trying to buy the product they came in to research.
We do need to know if there is a required product and if we own it. We do need to know if there are textures or add-ons and if we own them, or if we want to favorite them because we may not like this item enough but with the textures it is a winner. I don't think you get this anymore.
The harder you make it to buy an item - the less I will buy overall.
I DON'T LIKE the new layout. It is not helpful to me for purchasing a product. I am buying less products and will continue to buy less with these kinds of changes.
Thank you for listening.
