    Use Symlinks

If you're on windows get linkshell extension http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html

Then move your library wherever you want then drop a symbolic link or a junction to the original library place so that windows believes your files are still at the same place

Simpler and quicker. No need to uninstall or reimport metadatas or anything else

Symlinks working so far and it's super quick to setup! i moved mydaz library and my library over to another 1tb ssd. left my main ssd with almost 1 Tb free now! zip backups moved off also to the cloud for safekeeping.

The other method seemed too daunting and time consuming for my tastes.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Hi guys,
I've many custom material presets and also many custom figures that now use textures located in C, what happens to them if I move DAZ to another hard disk?

I work with DAZ since 2016 and I'm terrified of losing all my work blush

As long as Daz Studio knows where your content is located, it can access it and load it.  This is done via the Content Directory Manager.

    1. Go to your Content Library tab.
    2. Click on the menu (“hamburger) icon located at the uppermost right corner of the Content Library.
    3. In the pop-up menu, click on Content Directory Manager.
    4. In the Content Directory Manager window, you will see your Current Directories.  I believe that the three Formats directories  (Daz Studio, Poser, and Other Import) are present when you install Daz Studio.
    5. Click on the plus symbol next to any Formats directory to expand it.  Click on the Formats directory name and the Add button becomes active so that you can add content directories to a Formats directory.
    6. Click on any content location directory to either Edit it or Remove it.

The WP Guru explains the process briefly in at least two of his YouTube videos:

  • Thank you! My internal Hard Drive was cluttered and now I have room.

...as the Daz content and scene library are simply data, it should be easily transferable to a new drive.

To preserve the old default drive designation (say, drive "D") so as not to break the Daz programme, IM install, and plugin paths. wouldn't it be simple just to move the current drive to another port connection (say "E" in this case) install the new drive on the connection to the port for "D", then move the Daz content and scene libraries over to the new drive?
