I might do characters for G9. DAZ did made it a lot easier to do character creation for G9 now :)
My last for a little while. I wanted to do an asian male since asian faces are the most unfamiliar to me. I had to use some reference and I tried to make him look Japanese, but I'm not sure if I succeded or not...lol. Anyway, before I do more I need to make myself more head morphs. I like the Daz head morphs in general, but there are little things that I find I need that aren't included in the package, but easy enough to make ;).
This is a randomizer woman. She looks sad. I didn't apply an expression. She has some V9 mixed in by the randomizer.
Excellent character, @AllenArt
She might look sad, but she still looks like she could be a real person :)
I think you succeeded. The folds on the upper eyelids aren't uniformly stark.
I need to make a custom morph for the chin. There is a general chin shape that I've seen in nearly every male Japanese photo I look at and I can't duplicate it with Daz morphs. It's very distinct. :)
Nobody in Daz-world looks like a potato.
Hmmmm, now I must look that up.
This is the first female G9 texture with V9 makeup.
Wow, he looks amazing!
Thank you :)
Very pretty :). I've been able to use most of the makeup on the light skin, but the dark skins have been givng me fits. LOL
@AllenArt I agree with you about the dark skins included with G9. Neither (masculine nor feminine) looks good with any lighting I tried. Surely Daz had better resources than that they could have used. Anyway, I followed your lead and combined masculine skins 2 and 3 for this guy. He was created with the randomizer, except I increased the size of his lips to better balance the look of his nose.
I actually made three different tones out of those two skins...lol. All three look better than the original, which is REALLY blotchy and super dark ;). At least it drove me to expand my G9M skins a little...lol. I may do the same with the Latino/East Asian and Caucasian skin ;)
I was playing with the Randomizer 2 last night. I don't much care for the faces it makes directly, but it did give me some really good starting points :P I do like the look of your character with the smoother skin tone.
Directly converted my character from G8 to G9. Used Masculine Skin 04 Mat, Iris 05 Deep Brown, Eyebrows Card Style 06 Thick, Eyelashes Style Sparse 01 Upper + Sparse 02 Lower + Color Black Upper + Color Black Lower
I don't like the brows in the "essentials extension". They are very comical when used on male characters, or too thin or too arched or make the character super angry or about to burst into tears (like shown here on my character). The fiber brows don't look that great either. I think it's the brows that ruin the realism of the character. I am looking forward to the brows merchant resources from RedzStudio and Chevybabe
Eyes and lashes look great. But I still want super dark brown almost black irises in upcoming merchant resources, though as far as I know even Natural Eyes for G9 doesn't have dark brown almost black irises
Another thing I find is that G9 sucks up light like a black hole. Not sure if it is because I am rendering in DS 4.15 with DS 4.20 resources installed. G8 rendered with this particular HDRI background looks overexposed but for G9 it seems to be the right amount of lighting.
There is a black set of eyes in the section "Special FX" but they look kinda "fishy" or "froggy" to me somehow...lol. They're black, but with a hint of gold to them. Not sure if you can colorize them to your liking or not ;)
Nice character!!
I like this thread a lot. There are some really good G9 characters here. Here's my shot with dark skin from Starter Essentials package. I did purchase the morphs today. Face slightly tweaked ... I'm having real problems with eyebrows. No clue how to change colors or whatever. I tried to change the shape, et c...anyway.
Also, the hair doesn;t look natural enough alongside the highly detailed skin, imo. There is probably a way to tweak things to look a bit like they all belong together. No expressions used. I do think the skins that came with the starter pack are pretty darn good.
A couple of blender morphs from a pack of head shapes I just finished. Skins are from the base freebies. The female one was cleaned up a bit to remove most of the acne.
Very nice! I'm finding that weirdness in clothes and hair goes away if you add enough smoothing. Of course, that may cause other issues, but...sometimes it looks alright ;).
Fantastic!!! I especially like the male figure :)
It's a nice character, and I have it. I have almost every character Spows makes and I'll continue to use them, but this thread is about G9 and what can be done with it, not how much you or others don't need it ;)
Wow, really nice, @TomCatOliver
I thought all my characters were looking kind of soft. We need some HD morphs. I tried dialing in V9 HD on male characters. It actually improved them a lot, I think. Is anyone else doing that?
I haven't tried it yet. But we really do need wrinkles, veins, etc ;)
This one is just a direct female version of a face I made for a male ;). There's no Vicky in the mix, but she is wearing her skin, makeup and HD.
I love her expression. Looks like my Resting B**** Face. LMAO
Anyway....
She's more real and interesting than Victoria herself. That's an interesting ides - turning the masculine off and the feminine on.
Another one based off a male face. This isn't a straight conversion. I changed it quite a bit.
I like the raised eyebrow!
