@barbult Yes, that Randomizer can get seriously wonky if it isn't reigned in. I've had some seriously disturbing results on occassion. I'm going to have to dig out my various randomizer products to see what I can get next go round.

For now, here's my second attempt at a G9M by dial spinning. Used the Base 2 skin for G9M. Not sure I like it. I'm going to have to make doing my own skins for this generation a priority if I don't like any of the skins in the Essential pack. Overall I don't think he turned out half bad. Hair for G9 has been a struggle. Half the hair I use seems to do okay in Zero pose, but then leaves the head when put into a pose. I'm guessing that those hairs will have to be parented to the figure without fitting. This one actually seems to work on G9 out of the box. It's Petrov Hair for G8M.

I wanted to use the Petrov Beard as well. I think that's the beard that @AllenArt used in that one render with the really interesting looking character he did, but I couldn't get it to work. I need to figure out what to turn off because the beard followed bones in the pose that it shouldn't have. It's something I'll have to look into later.

Nice looking character :). Not sure why you're having trouble with the Petrov beard...it works fine on my end. And it's she, not  he (I mean, I'm a she...lolol). cheeky

I have been having small troubles here and there with some hair going really weird around the ears, but that's not a new thing and I can usually find a hidden morph to dial down that takes care of the wonkiness ;). Not trouble with that beard tho.

I thought I'd add my G9 character to the thread. I created her for another thread, but after seeing this thread I thought I'd put her in a portrait setting with the detail setting turned up. it's mostly me playing with dials using one of the default skins that come with G9. I added some G8 hair with autofit, but none of the posing dails would do anything so I couldn't bring the braids from the back to the front or anything like that. I did add some eyeshadow to match the background color. :)

Edit: Actually, I started playing with expressions and found that it helped make her look more realistic so I switched the image out. I forgot to add the green eyeshadow on the second image, but left the first one in case you wanted to see it. :)

Beautiful! :). As for your braids, it's autofit and the braids apparently had custom bones. Autofit destroys custom bones, unfortunately. You're better off parenting it to her head and trying to shape it to her without autofit :'(

Thank you. All of your characters are amazing! They actually inspired me (and I'm sure others) to really get out there and try to see what we can come up with.  Thanks for starting this thread. :-)

    Awwww, thanks :) blush

Oops! Sorry about that. I think I might have known that at one point, but it's been a while since I've been in the forums. Just getting back into the swing of things after being away. I'll have to play with the beard more. It's usually something simple that I overlooked the first time around. And thanks. I think he looks rath nice as well. :) It was definitely fun to watch as he emerged as it were. :)

You probably haven't a clue as to who I'm talking about but that character looks like Sam Bowie (well if he were about 6' instead of about 7'), one of the most talented basketball players there ever was, but who had the misfortune of having recurrent stress fractures severely hamper his career. Yes he could really jump, he was like a human pogo stick.

The randomizer can get quite wild if you let it. This guy makes me think of Jerry Stiller.

Randomizer really took it to the extreme that time. LOL I've noticed that what comes out of Randomizer 2 isn't quite as extreme as what came out of the first version. But sometimes what came out of the first version was really fun. LOL

Well, it is extreme, because I allowed it to use up to 100% of each  morph, where the default is 30-something %

All the great images inspired me to play with the morphs a bit as well. Not as unique as others already posted. I'm really impressed with the quality of the base G9 skins. IMHO they are much better than what weve gotten in previous generations.  I used female skin 02.

Using the Jasper Black outfit here and had a really weird thing happen: when I autofit to G9, those cool bat-shaped clasps on the front of the vest just went POOF!! I couldn't find them anywhere - not in the vest, the jacket, the figure....nowhere. Bummer.

If those clasps have their own surface, you could try to use the surface selection tool so they are highlighted yellow, then autofit ... maybe you can find them that way?

They're attached to rigid follow nodes. I don't know how autofit deals with those. Especially with G9's different bone names.

    I am enjoying Genesis 9.

I have worked the last week or so on my character, Adrea.

Some of the morphs are of course from DAZ. The main work on the head and feet are morphs created in Blender.

    Model/Mesh is very workable.

Ok, I had way too much fun on this next one. I used G9 Feminine Skin 04 MAT, G9 Iris 04 Chocolate eyes, G9 Eyebrows Card Style 05 AOD (from G9 Starter expansion), black eyebrows, Soft Curles long hair for G9 and lots of face morphs to try and make her look Indian to match the Skin MAT. Makeup was a LIE pack I picked on on Redo by Lully that someone in another thread recommended which seems to work well with darker skins.

    G9 test for Indian model

Edit: Fixed eyes a little bit and uploaded again...

Here's an updated image of "Lisa". And I know this is faces mostly, but I just got done with the bodies of two faces I did previously and I'm ready to save them for later use :). I like that I can make G9 look more like real people, a lot easier than I could with previous versions for whatever reason :)

I keep looking at the boring morphs and characters offered for G9 in the store and thinking, "we've made much better on our own in the Head Games thread".

    I agree, great characters, @Tobias

  • I barely know what I'm doing, and that's being generous. :)

Did a transfer of a custom-dialed G8.1M character over to G9.  Used additional G9-specific products to further refine the character.  Ended up with this fellow.

The textures are V9, hair is Martin hair, and shorts are from the G9 base set.

  • This charming chap uses only G9 products (no transferred G8/8.1 figures.)

He's a combination of JoeQuick's Toon Heroes for G9, RawArt's Victorian Monster for G9, Zev0's Growing Up for G9, and DAZ's Head and Body morphs for G9.

The outfit is DAZ/fjaa3d's Iron Lady Outfit for G9.

Where did you get the early 20th century football duds?

Based on some of the other characters in this thread I think I should get the Sim Tenero Randomizer 2, is what I think it is called.
