LOVE his face!! Wow, what a hunk. LOL

    Thank you, AllenArt!

I put the shaping preset for him on my forum thread.  He needs a few G9 products to get the shape.

I was thinking he looked like Robert Sheehan (Klaus) from The Umbrella Academy.

    My thought as well!

Playing around with Victoria 9 and the Face Morphs Kit for Genesis 9. Started with Victoria 9, dialed her head back to about 75%. Stated adjusting morph dials from the Face Morphs Kit to get the look I wanted. I don't know why it's so satisfying watching a new person emerge as I move dial around, but it is. Very much so!

I'll be honest I was missing the mark of what I was seeing in my head. So I then I added VYK Sydney for Genesis 9 at 15%. That little bit gave me what I was looking for. I just couldn't quite get what I wanted with the morphs dials only. Sometimes, you just have to mix other character heads in and see how they react. In this case, it gave me what I wanted. I rely on morph dials because my morphing skills in other programs are almost nonexistant. I can do small things, but not whole heads or their various parts. I'm looking forward to more morphs showing up in the store.

The skin is the Vitctoria 9 default skin. Eyes are from Natural Eyes 9 for Genesis 9.

Tremendous! I need to give myself some time also to have a play but it's results like this one, together with some explanation of 'how' that's inspiring me to dive in! Great result and great composition of the render.

Some really fantastic characters in here! I really love the randomizer results y'all have gotten, and I made a preset specifically for the V9 asymmetry details. I find they look more natural when they really are random and I can't overthink them. :V

Some G9 work-in-progress updates on story characters. The demon guy is using ND Fantasy Shaping morphs. The lady is a mix of HID Nora, additional face morphs, and HevieState3D's SONSY weight system, with Nora's skin.

Skin is https://www.daz3d.com/e3d-biddie-hd-for-genesis-9-female Mixed morphs. Eyes are from one of the Essentials packs, lightened the teeth, used different brows. I think the pores are too prominent for someone wearing makeup. Not sure why so many character artists insists on such large prominent pores. I don't have pores like that on my face and neither do most females I know.

Good, but I really like the Sun Godess render. Or maybe just a stylized Art Deco Chic. Super.

This one is just a direct female version of a face I made for a male ;). There's no Vicky in the mix, but she is wearing her skin, makeup and HD.

I love her expression. Looks like my Resting B**** Face. LMAO laugh

    Anyway....

That's one of the reasons I laugh when folks start getting super weird about "Not masculine enough" "Not feminine enough"  I know allot of women that have strong features but are dainty as you woud imagine and allot of males that are very feminine in their appearance but are pretty manly.  Everyone is built differently.  Each to their own vision but it begs the question "what do these picky end users think of folks they meet in real life with features that don't meet their standards" lol

By the way, she's really hot and I'm a gay man!  LOL

  • Those super-defined skin pores and material surfaces is a trend in modern graphics. "More real than real", everything more pronounced than in reality. It's also trend in live action filming.

If you don't like it (it does get quite silly at times), lower intensity on bumps and normals or apply bloom filter.

I tried playing with bumps and normals but I had just come from a much older version of DS and mostly used Uber shaders and could not really figure out how to adjust everything. I tried lowering the detail maps, bumps and normals but wanted details just on the lips and I had added a mask to the makeup slot to try to get lips shinier and keeping details but find the whole PBR set up for G9's face daunting. It's easier at this point to fix it in post. Or use G8/8.1....

Here is one with Josie's skin/makeup and some of her morph mixed with a bunch of others. I think she came out looking like a mix of Mila Kunis and Angelina Jolie...

Most of the characters sold here and everywhere else all look like cover models.  While I don't think going to deep end of the river and making characters look really ugly or plain is ideal for sales I think more realism including imperfections are desirable.  I mean look at some of the "oddball" characters that were made for Genesis 8!  Olly and others that many thought wouldn't sell well were very high in sales because folks could add bits of their looks into their genetic pool of options to make their obviously cover models look a little more realistic and approachable.  I mean how many of us here would walk right up to a stunning man or woman and expect to be treated nicely.  I know I'm not ugly but I just don't approach the few gorgeous people out there because there is that little voice that tells me "they will ignore you or snub you so don't bother" so when I see nothing but gorgeous characters released I just don't get overly excited to buy them but characters like Olly or even your example above looks like fun, normal folks.  Pleasant to look at but approachable.

  • I think the difference between hyperdefined surfaces on models and details on everything in real life is that unless you focus on someone's skin, then you simply don't notice every detail. How often you actually stare at someone's complexion?

Lots of details we do not focus on all the time.

It's less about whether it should be on models and more about how to render. Better to have more details than to not have them, but things can be rendered either out of focus or blurred.

I'm not really a pixie/fairy/elf person, but I like this approach - roll your own. LOL At this point, all I really buy characters for are their skins :P. LOL

LOL, you probably shouldn't come to LA then. Most places I go to are filled with people as attractive as DAZ models or real fashion models because so many ARE models and actors or trying to be (as I was too lol.) Everyone comes here to become a star then ends up working as waiters, baristas, clothing clerks, in other areas of the entertainment industry, in PR, marketing, real estate, grocery clerks, strippers, or becoming nurses, doctors, lawyers, whatever. All the hot cheerleader girls and Miss Small Town Unknown County beauty queens from across America and the world come here to be the next superstar and then realize they are just one in a million hot blondes here and there's always someone younger and hotter.. And no need to feel uncomfortable around attractive people because no attractive person actually ever feels attractive, everyone focuses on their flaws. Which is why most attractive people take more time editing and retouching their Instagram photos because they will never be as attractive as they wish they were.

No, I'm not either, but I thought she looked cute in the store. After getting disgusted with the misleading (to me) wording of the sale offers, I just decided to do as you say and take on the challenge of "rolling my own".

I completely agree with you about wanting/needing the imperfections for realism. If I want to do glamour-shot type renders, there is plenty of that already available (and a little gaussian blur on the texture can also be added), but for realism I want the imperfections. I'm from the U.S. but recently moved to Albania where the women are simply stunning - it's a little bizarre how beautiful they all are..lol..(and very friendly/approachable). Even all made up with make up/false eyelashes etc (Kardashian level), you still see skin imperfections/texture. So I'm really hoping to see more of that going forward.

Also, really loving this thread!! smiley

I wasn't going to get involved with the 9 generation for a number of reasons, mostly expense. But I was lured in by the beautiful eyes. Anyway I bought the morph package and Legacy UVs for Genesis 9: Genesis 3, 8, and 8.1 Female and Josie's Cat Suit. I hope to stop there. LOL. The guy has Mabel's textures and uses the aged face and body and some others. The cat lady has August textures.

Interesting people, Luci45! It is interesting to see the G8 textures on the G9 characters. Mabel on the guy looks good.
