Anyone going to buy the Sci-Fi Props: Crates And Containers Bundle?

https://www.daz3d.com/sci-fi-props-crates-and-containers-bundle

I mean, it's really well-made, but I can't quite see how G9 is the compatible figure as there doesn't seem to be poses whatsoever, just the props...?

I am a Stonemason fan but I might give this bundle a pass. Not so excited by this new product.

I'm also not sure why it's compatible with G9..I always set that option to N/A

Hi Stonemason, look forward to seeing you launch another "Street of" and "Urban Future" product. Got some of your masterpieces in the Menorial Day sale.

I, on the other hand, am definitely in need of things like this, and since I almost never use pre-made poses, I wouldn't even care if it included G9 poses while I'm still using G8.1.

Yeah for lazy bum like me, pre-made poses for opening the crates and barrels are always welcomed... adjustment is a must but having a good starting point saves a lot of time. *shrugs* oh well. Anyway it's DAZ incorrectly listing G9 as the compatible figure.

The bundle is impressive but none of the crates seem able to open. I have more use for open crates than closed ones.

I still use G3 and I am seriously considering purchasing the bundle. I can always use crates and containers for background fillers.

The promos are lacking, but the descriptions mention the barrels and crates having removable lids.

I wish clean textures were provided - I'm so tired of PAs providing only dinged-up textures. Makes it difficult to show factory-new items and vehicles. And if you have two in a scene, it looks strange for them to have the exact same wear or damage.

Also wish text was provided as decals - can't have alien crates with English/Chinese/whatever markings.

Still, the bundle is relatively cheap if you buy another new release, pop the spotlight item in cart, and apply tokens. Showing $9.43 in my cart, which seems to be correct based on all offered discounts plus eight tokens.

I am buying the bundle, along with the food stand. Overall my purchase look like a solid sci-fi realism day, except a couple freebies. I didn't use all my tokens, saving some for tomorrow in case Daz keeps to their pattern of character releases on Thursdays. If not, no problem.

Thank you to Stonemason, The AntFarm, David Brennen and ForbiddenWhispers.

  • Insta-buy due to never having enough of those (+interactive license, + to blender,  +recent/quality).

G9 likely is an accident, perhaps the one promo image with someone sitting on a crate contains a G9 figure, i don't see any carrying poses in the promo pictures, neither in the text.

    Details of motivation:

    - Quality containers in different shapes with different textures and removable lids, in this case useful/missing +- alternatives for what i need.

    - Likely will use such a) anywhere b) with differing factions (thus some variety is needed).

    - (For the sizes potentially possible to carry or wield by humans or androids with little extra gear necessary just for that.)

    - (Reasonable discount for me.)

Shouldn't be that difficult to add your own, clean shaders. In fact, would be MUCH easier than making dinged up ones ;)

I agree and wellcome textures that make things look used (and more realistic)

I just Y Rotate them to get variance.

If I did scifi it would be instabuy. Alas, I don't do scifi.

Same here. My biggest gripe is that most textures look too perfect (which ain't real realistic...lol). ;)

I am sure I will buy them eventually. But one thing the store has a lot of is sci-fi crates, and sci-fi coridoors. These look very nice though.

I have at least half a dozen products (if not more) whose sole purpose is to add dirt, grime, stains, scuffs, rips, tears, etc to various items. But that's beside the point: If you're texturing something and then scuffing it up for the "final look", why not save out a clean version? The more versatile a product, and the less work it requires from me, the more I'm willing to pay for it.

But I probably was a bit too cranky in my initial tone - was dealing with a customer service department over a $2400 mistake (on their part) this morning.

    Hi,

Can someone have this items give me a quick render of what's inside of the crates / barrels when the lid is removed? Is there a morph to remove / open the lid?

    Thank you very much.

As far as i have checked up on this, the lid can just be selected and removed like an object. I don't see any morphs.

It's on my wish list. Recently I've had good use for assets from the Sci-Fi Kit 2016. Together with Mely's, I frequently check in on Stonemason's store.

    Cheers!

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me what is shown inside the crates when the lid is removed? Is there anything in the interior of the product?

    Thank you.

Same thing with graffiti. It can be a giant pain to remove them.

Well I made a render of three of the crates with their tops opened and the insides visible, but I wasn't able to upload a simple render. Thanks Forum, will we ever get that fixed?

Quick render of three of the props with lids off. The lids are separate parented props, un-parented them rotated, moved and dropped to ground, no other changes.
