On the other hand, one never gets the kind of discounts or prices on the other stores, which are possible here if one does figure out the riddle.

It isn't just you. I want to have a life away from calculating the best deals, so I ignore all complicated deals. As the best non-complicated discounts have reduced, I've bought a fair bit less here this year than last, and my spending elsewhere is increased. And my consumption of free items which I tweak to suit me better, is now greater than purchased items. And if I con't find free, my preference is to make before I look to buy.

    Regards,

    Richard

A sensible approach! I'd be fine with lower general prices, then just some deals on items to tempt me. But havign to work out if I own x from this category, y from this, to get bonus discounts on z, with or without membership of abc ... I went from spending hundreds of pounds (a month?) to spending nothing in the end.

    Not just you ;)

I missed a good deal just before these DAZ+ sales. 85% off for 3 or 4 items without buy-in. Was all G3 related though but still good deal.
I get bored quickly with these riddle sales so skip them most of the time even if they include hidden gems.

I'm also holding back lately because we still don't have a SHOW WISHLIST ONLY checkbox and the people from daz-dealz started asking for money to get this feature. Why on earth don't we have this yet?

When more space on the page is devoted to spelling out all the conditions for a discount than for the new items themselves, you know there's a problem. ;-)

The result is that I ignore all the extraneous crap and spend less money at Daz. Some folks may enjoy playing shopping-Jenga but for me it's a waste of time.

It's not just you. I don't even read stuff like that.

I take advantage of the offers that I'm able to understand at first glance. They still exist!

I go by path of least resistance, but of a different sort. Looking at each condition, I check the shortest list one by one for anything I'd care for. Most of them usually have a link to each list and the "new" list are usually the shortest. That easily knocks out 90% of the sales without much effort. On the off chance I find something, I move one to the next condition and so on, either meeting it or passing on the sale entirely. For example, buying one of 1000 items to get one of 100 items for free. The easiest option is to see if there's any freebie of interest, otherwise, there's no point in looking at the longer list.

The lack of a "wishlist" filter is a bummer. Usually, you can search the wishlist page for items with the discount from that sale, except when you need a code to get the discount. Sometimes I had to resort to using the browser "inspect" feature and doing a search by "in-wishlist" to find which items have the wishlist heart on them. It's easier to do on some browsers than others.

I buy what I want, skip what I have no need for and if there's a deal for what I want, the better. But I don't sweat too hard for them. Then again Ialways hate it when I get a copong and it's not working.

It is all by design. You can find various sources that discuss the psychology of how sales are conducted to get people to spend more than they normally would otherwise. There are guide books to do it.

Look up a video called "Lets Go Whaling!" on Youtube.

TBH, I just now noticed the summer sale is going on.... With all those buy this to get that, it just didn't pop out (to me) anymore...

Maybe I'm around too long already, already got the items that I want (and then some ... winkcheeky) and don't see much new items, just mostly newer versions of already good items that I have.

I spend longer picking over stuff and less time buying so that's good (for my wallet)

...I have a background in trigonometry, calculus, abstract matrix algebra, and celestial mechanics yet how they figure sale discounts  here still stymies me.

Get DAZ-DEALS. Once a day, look through the new releases to see if there is anything you'd ever want. Wishlist it/them. The Show Wishlist Only filter available through DAZ-DEALS will make it quick and simple to see if a sale has anything you desire. Of course, at some point, you'll have to go through the whole store (or the stores of your favorite vendors) to build your wishlist.

You need a degree in deciphering contractual and legal documents as well wink

What I do, is to read the rules on how many items and from what category (Debut New, Still New, or Spotlight Release) one needs to buy to get the best discounts.

Select the required number of items from those categories (I prefer props, environments and G8 stuff), and start going through the additional offers, picking the minimum amount of them (if there is a minimum amount for additional discounts), filtering for Daz+ first if they are included or DO if Daz+ is not included and checking the discounts and price of the items in the cart. If Daz+ or DO items don't get deep enough discount, I remove the items from the cart and move on to the next additional offer.

If Daz+ or DO items did get good enough discounts and price, then I can look at the other items.

When I have gone through all the additional offers, I start trimming down the cart and see what is the minimum amount of mandatory buy-ins that will give me the discount I want for items I want to buy and if I still get deep enough discount for the cart in total, for a price I'm willing to pay for it.

80+% off without token discount is what it takes for an item that's not a mandatory buy-in to stay in the cart and I aim at less than $3 per item and 88+% off for the whole cart (with the tokens) - If I can't get there, I clear the cart.

    Is it just me?

I feel the same way, and also don't buy that much anymore. It takes too long to figure out how to get the best deal for the things I want, I have other things to do. Also it just doesn't feel right to purchase something at a higher price because I have other priorities besides Daz. My spending about is 90% down (just did a quick calculation) compared to before all of this, which makes this whole Token system also kind of useless to me.

+ The steep buy in requirements for deals these days, the lack of good Gift Card Sales made me a lot less enthousiastic about opening the store page every day. After the introduction of G9, the things on my wishlist are "nice to haves" rather "wants" as I'm skipping this generation.
