Crazys are among us for sure
We been getting a lot of thunderstorms today its been rather breezy too. so its cleared the air pretty good of the smoke and pollen.

The smell of smoke is back with a vengeance today.
I thought for sure it was going to be back this morning because it was such a hazy orange sunrise, but I guess that was just regular morning fog from the ocean combined with the new normal orange-red color sunsets and sunrises have... According to the smoke maps, it's actually pretty clear today.

A friend picked me up for a short ride this morning. We could see the smoke in the valleys and in the distance, but neither of us could smell it. Up until we got out of town and were driving across the hills, I'd thought it was just morning fog. But its long past morning now, and the haze continues.
It was smokey and hazy in the St Louis Metro area, almost like fog. Going east, last I checked.
I concur with the map, we're right in the red and purple zone. Hopefully it clears in a day or two.
...my old hometown of Milwaukee was in the "Very Unhealthy" range yesterday with a rating of 218. Today it's improved somewhat but still pretty bad at 191, The Capitol of Madison is in the "Very Unhealthy" range with an AQ rating of 233 today. Yesterday, the city was in the "Dangerous" category.(above 300).
It is supposed to be smokey here, about 150 miles from the Smokey Mountains but mowing the lawn today it just seems same as always,. but I am coughing up phlem for a couple of weeks as I do when my allergies are more active then normal. but I took that to be from the humidity being much higher triggering more mold/mildew/fungi spore production but maybe it's actually all that smoke. We have so many trees and hills you can't see off in the distance to notice a smokey haze if there were one.

In addition to the wildfire smoke, the refinery in East Chicago had an issue Sunday and did a massive flare-off of volatiles and the aroma of hydrocarbons delicately overlays the aroma of smoke in the area.
Guidance - don't breathe the air, it's not healthy.

My husband and I have both been coughing the last few days. I'm thinking it's the smoke. I have a touch of asthma and it's been a struggle the last couple days. And yes - the only break I've been getting is when it rains.
I wondered if this fire was worse than the Great Matheson Fire of 1916. The Sun has been throwing Solar flares, and scientists are talking "internet apocalypse." Wondering if the fits also affect wildfires? Also, mention of The Carrington Event, like in 1859, is possible. Marie Moe, a woman on a plane over Amsterdam, her Pacemaker shorted out, and she almost died from a solar event. The computer errors from outer space - BBC Future Well, this is what someone suspected.
Yesterday evening we had a big thunderstorm with some downpours and when it was over we had the weirdest combination yellow-brown/ dark purple sky... I don't know if you've ever seen the sky after a big tornado passed through, but it had that post apocalyptic Fallout 4 Glowing Sea kinda look.
But today it's kinda clear looking, yet there's a subtle smoke smell in the air... all the highway signs say "Air Quality Alert... Limit Outdoor Activities", but the Smoke Maps are showing "Moderate" levels... I'm siding with the maps, as the highway signs always warn me about accidents that happened nine hours ago.
I gave up breathing air in general... I tried 100% organic air and that free range cage-free artisan air, but it got too expensive so I just quit altogether... it's hard at first, but eventually you get used to it.
Pray for strong winds, because only the wind is going to clear the skies. It rained heavy here a couple of a times, and the smoke did not dissipate one bit. Water droplets passed through the smoke particles as if they didn't exist.
For those who find it interesting, the smoke has reached Europe. It's pretty insane, yesterday we had on the news here that today the smoke would reach The Netherlands.
...that one satellite image looks like it has already reached Portugal and western Spain.
We're back in the red (Unhealthy) air again.
We are back in the red ( Unhealthy ) here in Montreal today as well.
I feel sorrow for the land of Canada. My family went through the 2009 Station Fire as wikipedia puts it "The Station Fire was the largest wildfire of the 2009 California wildfire season, as well as the largest wildfire in the history of Los Angeles County" [bold by wiki not me] We could see gigantic fireballs leaping like mad fire elements across huge canyons of the mountains and the air was so acrid, thick and dark from the smoke and ash, and weirdly lit by embers everywhere. The fire eventually moved away from our area but kept burning miles inward. We eventually had to evacuate with our animals but was able to return after 2 days. Miraculously, our area was not burned being helped by helicopters dumping water. It is terrible to imagine the wonderful old growth forests burning down. I am grieving for them, and the suffering of those who must breathe the smoke.
