Number 2, although I am not enthusiastic about all that fire in any of them.

Same, I'd much prefer it if there was an alternative splash with a less violent theme. Seems a tiny bit distasteful to me, tbh, with so many parts of the world literally up in flames right now (see, for instance, the thread Do I smell smoke? right here in this very forum ...).

Me too, not a fan of drama in general.

I wanted to vote #1, but that thing coming out of the dragon's mouth is disturbing and seems pasted into the picture rather than being part of it.

    #4 for me.

  • I like them all. Going to choose #4 because.

My main choice would be "none of the above", but if I had a gun to my head, I'd pick #4 - it's the least dark, in both the visual and thematic sense.

I guess the fire and explosions mean we're trying to push "Hey! We can do emissive volumes now!" (I did see that in the change notes), but these are all death and destruction. Yes, I know some people do like to render fireballs and violence, but it could be rather off-putting to others.

2 being best, 4 being not so much

    2 -> 3 -> 1 -> 4

All four are kinda grimdark, yet very well made.  I am a sucker for a good dutch angle, however.

    Number Three (#3) it is!

I like them all. But if I was to pick 1 it would be #2  the fire and lightening gives it appeal

Okay ... time to stuff the ballot box.  :-)

The truth is everybody so far has chosen #2.

It's true, even those who you think didn't choose #2.

Actually, they did choose #2, but due to some inconceivable qanonymous anomaly all of their keyboards got stuck not being able to display #2.

So there you have it by conservative reduction the choice is #2. Glad I could clear that up.

...well I guess if you flip the number "5" 180° on its Y axis and again on its X axis it sort of resembles a stylised "2".

They are obviously showing off a whole lot of fire, so the pink/blue background breaks it up nice.

I like 3 and 4, but 4 has a hazy wash over it that mutes the 'action' of the image, so my vote will be for 3. If 4 had the same/similiar contrast pop that 3 has, my vote would have been different.

Number 4 for me, it looks cleaner and less cluttered.

How about a nice sunrise with some clouds?

    ...yes

Maybe with some trees, hills, mountains & such as well.  I've seen some sunrises and sunsets that would be challenging to reproduce the lighting and atmospheric effects for.

I think a split rembrandt type portrait and beautiful water feature landscape with puffy clouds could also make a great splash screen to show off DS render ability.

...agreed. Jiust turned off by all the violent themes.  Too much of that in RL these days.

I think every splash screen should show 'Victoria in a temple with a sword' (NVITWAS), with all the trimmings. Each time with the latest Genesis generation and technique. That would be fun and bring continuity.  ;-)
