I'm learning about Daz3D and I checked some characters in Gen8 that I loved, Gen9 have almost no male characters, this is so sad.

I loved Owen 8 and Sanjay 8

Can I use then in Gen9? They don't have Gen9 "seal"

I loved these 2 characters but I searched about 8 and 8.1 and 8.1 was better in expressions and Gen 9 expressions and others things was improved.

So I wanna know about these characters and others part of Gen 8 and Gen 8.1 if can I use like Gen 9, Idk or convert. Oh jesus :(

Another Doubt

Gen 9 only have 1 version and dev version so, every hair can be used for male and female characters, right? Different of previous gen that we see separate genre.

If you want to get Owen and/or Sanjay to Genesis 9 you will either have to buy a character converter (there is one in the store) or convert them yourself (which is possible but takes some work).

And yes, hair made for a Genesis 9 female can be used on a Genesis 9 male too, which goes for clothing as well. As for the lack of male characters - I've been barking about it for years and told they don't sell as well as females, and I buy mostly males. You just have to make do with the few little scraps of maleness that get released. ;)

There are already some interesting male characters for Genesis 9. But with this generation they have it even easier to offer only a few males, because you can 'masculinise' female characters.  On the other hand, this can be a reason to use Genesis 9: Several female characters actually look very good and believable in their male version.

If I were to start using DAZ Studio today, I honestly don't know whether I'd go with G8/G8.1 or G9. My impression is that the two generations are quite close in overall quality.

The main argument for G8/G8.1 is that there's a huge library of compatible items available right now, including characters you say you like.
And the items are on sale more often, with deeper discounts.
I will also note that swapping items (such as hair) between G8F and G8M is for the most part very easy to do. (The major exceptions are shapes and geografts.)
But of course you'd be investing in technology that is not the most recent, and will fall behind more and more as time passes.

G9 is the most recent generation. Compared to G8/G8.1 there's not that much content available just yet, but the majority of new content will be for G9, including future innovations we don't know about yet.
There are ways to make G8 shapes and skins work on G9, but from what I've seen so far the results are not perfect.
We also don't know if G9 will be another long-lasting generation like G8/8.1 and V4/M4, or if it will be a short-lived experiment like G2.

I hope this adds more confusion helps!
    Good luck!

Genesis 9 is not better than Genesis 8. You will be better off with Genesis 8.
