Hi all,
What is the difference between Colorwerks Hair Shaders for Iray (https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-hair-shaders-for-iray) and Colorwerks 3: Dye Another Day Iray Hair Shaders (https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-3-dye-another-day-iray-hair-shaders)?
Is Colorwerks 3 just an updated version of Colorwerks? Does it have everything that Colorwerks has and more, or should I consider purchasing both?
Also, do things like Colorwerks ever go on sale?
I'm new to Daz and I'm building a tool kit ...

As far as I can see, those are 2 different sets; can buy either one or both as you please.
And eventually, yes, almost [if not all] things go on sale at some time during the year. Factors as to when include how new an item is. Usually there's a big sale in October too.
Colorwerks was on sale for $5.99 last month. I bought it in August 2021 for $4.99 (back before "$5.99" became the new "$4.99," I suppose).
It's a good set of shaders, especially for hairs that only come with 3-4 color choices of their own.
I've got ColorWerks3 in my wishlist. Looks to be a stand-alone product with some interesting new features. SloshWerks makes good stuff and I've never been disappointed in their products.
ColorWerks was $2.99 in January. Always wait for a sale, unless you desperately need a product immediately. Add it to your wishlist if you can wait for a good sale.
Thanks all! Great info and advice :)
Original ColorWerks doesn't support strand-based hair. For that reason I wouldn't go for that one.
ColorWerks Extreme does support strand-based hair as well as polygonal hair.
ColorWerks 3 doesn't specify, which is a little strange. I assume it also supports strand-based hair since it would be a step back otherwise, but I don't know for sure.
I don't think you need more than one of these, especially when starting out.
Yes, they are on sale sometimes.
Good luck!
I have the new one Wishlisted because I use the original so much it is practically part of my workflow.
I have a bad learning curve for many tools, but original is very easy for me to work with so have no doubt the new Dye will be as well.
Thank you - I appreicate the insight!
