Van Helsing 9

... Huh.

Seriously, that's all I got.

Surprised that they don't seem to have a promo that shows how she combines with different shapes.

And ... that's about it. So, have at it, folks.

Van Helsing was an elderly professor in the book Dracula. I know he was turned into a younger action figure in the Van Helsing movie, but why did Daz decide to change him into a woman?

The tv show by the same name features two sisters who are descendants who fight vamps. Im guessing the figure is based off the show.

I think that's as much as we get.

Her body scuplt seems nice. No noodle arms.

Wish her alt shapes came seperate, that's all I want!

Pretty face. Looks like an athletic build. Some considerable weirdness in the knee bends in one of the promos. (There is a [romo with the character mixes, but nothing is labled so one hasn't any idea of what the mixes are. Lazy DAZ, no cookie.)

I don't dislike the figure at all. But really don't think I have a legitimate need.  Not enthused by the fact that you have to buy the Pro bundle to get the older and younger versions. There isn't enough in the Pro bundle to really tempt me.

Not much impressed by the clothing, either, although the pieces are nice, and look like they might combine well with other sets. Very leased to see a new AprilYSH hair. She's about the only hair vendor I still purchase, as she's about the only one who still provides 3DL materials.

The vampire castle looks fun, but I don't think that I really need it.

Yeah, what's next? Draculaura 9, the Daughter of Dracula? I like Monster High, but still. The name choice feels so random. They could've named her "Sarah 9" or something like that, since I saw a Ciri cosplay in one of the promos.

But she looks like Victoria 9, like so many other G9 characters.

I did play with the cart, getting pretty good discounts for the older (G8/G8.1) stuff, but making one buy $35-$45 stuff one doesn't want to get good enough discounts on stuff one actually wants is a 'bit' too much - Clearing cart and saving 100% of store credit

I don't mind her being a descendant of Van Helsing. I just wish she didn't look so much like a sibling of Victoria 9. The younger version might work, though. But I don't want the Pro Bundle.

    I like the character.
However, the younger version looks better than the older one.

The idea of rewriting stories is good.
Why shouldn't Van Helsing portray a female character as well?
Every old song nowadays gets turned into a new version even though the original was/is better.

How about "Muffy the Vampire Stalker"? :D

As two of the outfits in the bundle I checked have no masculine fits at all, I won't be getting it, and I've got no interest in the character. That April hair on the other hand... already in the cart.

Im just wondering because of the name and sort of the outfit whether some time down the track it'll change to being editorial license after recent events here makes me reluctant not that I can afford it nowdays as for a female version well guess not many here seen many horror/fantasy/scifi stuff of this type oh the outfit is also similar worn by the witch hunters in warhammer and warhammer 40,000 too

I like her, nice details and one of the best originals body morph yet, imo. She reminds me of Jacqueline 8.1. Nice mix with Joan 9, an oportunity to use her morph for something else. The make up pack has more options than ever and I really like it is subtle, not as crazy as some of the make up packs that came with last characters. As I didn't have any banner/token bought the character and make up only.

well to be fair Bram Stoker's character is in the public domain and the outfits don't actually resemble either the film or Netflix adaptations even if they may draw some inspiration from other things

Sigh the young and old morph are in the stupid pro bundle only... again. angry

The pro bundle did a really good job with the promo images. Very impressive renders. But once you get past the shiny objects and blinking lights, I don't see much value for what it costs.

Okay, go ahead and shoot me, I like her.

The Pro Bundle went down to $33.39 in my cart. I had 6 tokens and used my DAZ+ coupon and put in add-ons that I actually wanted and found five lowered the price of the bundle but six had no effect. Still got it and two PA items I had wanted for awhile which went to 83% off. My full cart is now at $70.73. It would have been nice to have a banner but nope none, but the tokens seem to equalize it out.

And I am so not into Vampires, ghouls or what ever. I just ignored the other options totally. I also dislike rompers for adults, it sucks that it was in the bundle and not an add-on. I just won't download it.

Yes, the play suit is a totally weird addition to that set. It doesn't even vaguely belong!

My initial impression is "Looks more like Victoria 9 than the actual Victoria 9."

Step in the right direction, perhaps? But still not amazing, and the bundle plus four new releases for the full discount (three texture packs and the Mystica outfit) is $75.81, or $45.48 with eight tokens applied.

But then it's Daz, so a significant price drop later in the day wouldn't be surprising. $30-ish for the cart might be tempting.

I do like Blood Hunter, although the zippered front seems a bit too modern for the outfit (but maybe it could be made to look like stitching with some effort).

So, uh... I know I've been critical of the G9 generation of figures but... This is the first G9 release I've actually bought right away. I haven't gotten to play around with the character in Daz Studio yet but I really like her. She's cool and doesn't appear to have the upper arm/shoulder issues that drive me crazy with most G9 characters.

    Anyway... I like her.

Uh, Daz, for me, there is only one Van Helsing and he had a much more interesting face than this chick:

But don't mind me, I haven't bought anything from the G9 line to date anyway.

The body sculpt is nice but I wish they wold stop this non-sense of buying a pro bundle to get the alternative shapes. It really feels like a crappy cash grab move and honestly, this character is lack luster considering how closely she resembles the others. Sorry Daz, but this feels greedy.

Alternate shapes being sold only as a part of the bundle. Meh and everything.

It's Daz. If there's an excuse to release a moderately attractive woman cosplaying as a male action hero, they will, and they've been doing it since the days when KK was an assistant nobody at Lucasfilm. In this case, the tv show with the two sisters and the goofy-sounding (haven't seen it personally) Mark Gatiss adaptation of Dracula provide the excuse by offering precedent for a proactive female Van Helsing.

and Vanessa Helsing on Netflix   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5197820/

  • What We Do in the Shadows also had one of the characters revealed to be a descendant of Van Helsing. I think at this point "Van Helsing" is becoming a stock thing for any character who is a vampire hunter.

That's a fun show. And why not female anything? Starbuck was male in the original Battlestar Galactica.

About thebundle: I like the charecter but also wish she was not so similar to Vicky9. Must of the stuff is nice and I really like the expressions. But the pro bundle is no insta-buy.
