1-click PBRskin — LOVE IT!

I just wanted to give Josh Darling and Silas3D a sincere round of applause. 

The one thing that has driven me nuts is that many Gen 8 and Gen 9 tend to come out looking ruddy. Especially the men. I assume it may be my lighting. But this product allows me to adjust the gamma on my characters so it works with my lighting. If anyone else is frustrated by a similar problem, 1-click will solve it for you.

    I'm maybe needing this, but I mess with PBR once in awhile and it always looks chalky or washed out. I much prefer the old texturing system.

    I had a similar issue, because I'd get confused about which texture went with what. Like trying to use PBR makeup on Uber figure. /wince. I finally got that sorted. But with 9, they're all PBR? Maybe? Anyway, adjusting the gamma just slightly down took the ruddy out while leaving enough red to keep the character from looking washed out.

    Here's something that also makes me nuts with 9. For several models back to v4, you could set the eyes to "point at" the camera. The eyes will then follow the cam as you move it.

    You can't do that with 9, I don't think. When I've tried, it gets cockeyed. In fact, the eye iris doesn't go all the way to the corner of the eye. It goes only so far and stops.  (Come to think of it, it must have limits on.)

    Thus I have to put the iris as far as it will go and line the camera up with the eye. Can somebody do a script?

    I love 9 generally -- the eyes and expressions are beautiful. But Gen 8 is a bit easier to use in some ways.

    @Damsel - thank you so much for the lovely feedback, it really means the world to us!

    My initial idea for the product was just to have the gamma adjustment and then it organically evolved into a focus on PBRSkin conversion. Then following feedback from the community we released an update with even more functionality including the live preview and translucency color adjustment (which should also help with your ruddy skins hehe!)

     

    @daveso - the chalky/washed out apearance you mention is particularly noticeable on darker figures like Angela 9. The problem is usually due to aggressive roughness and/or detail weight settings, so you can use the roughness slider script included with 1-Click PBRSkin to combat this :)

     

    Llola Lane - unfortunately you just missed the intro sale so the product won't be going on sale for a while I'm afraid! Whilst I completely understand your desire to wait for another sale, I would hope the product would pay for itself quickly given the time and efficiency gains that it offers. Absolutely no pressure, but would very much appreciate your support whenever that may be :)

    In closing - can't share too much detail right now but Josh and I may or may not be working on a follow up product that allows gamma correction of clothing and other textured items... ;)

    @Silas3D - what I think is extremely cool is that a creator is here in the forums answering questions and giving advice. Many props to you and thanks. yes 1 click is in my wishlist for payday.

    I come from a background in software development, IT support and customer service (which doesn't always mix well hehe), so it's something I've always been aware of and tried to break the mould, so to speak!
