Is this the same artist???

Because that's definitely the same hair. Either Daz is now allowing PA's to sell at other stores while at Daz or someone is doing something they shouldn't be.

Also this isn't the only hair that's in both stores.

It looks like these hairs are for AutoDesk's Maya, not for DAZ Studio.

Yeah, I think there's exceptions made when the item sold elsewhere isn't in a Daz Studio format. A lot of Enterables stuff is available elsewhere for other 3d programs.

I can understand it being allowable with regards to different formats. Does anyone know if it's the same artist?

It is allowed, as the others have said, when it is for a diifferent application. I don't know the details in this case however, though it is noticeable that both names have Xs.

I simply want to make sure if I get that hair, someone isn't going to come along later and say it was stolen. Both having X in the name does not confirm if it's the same artist, it only suggests it might be.

I'm not sure what the point of un-rigged converted hair is.

It has one morph only: expand. No styles, no movement, no adjustment, no base shapes support. The best can be said is "It is capable of simulating but requires multiple attempts to adjust the simulation parameters." which basically boils down, "Try your luck with simulation settings on your own to figure out some parameters because none are included!"

A lot of hair in the store is like this lately- badly converted and or lacking morphs entirely. I've passed up a LOT of hair purchases for that reason. Or returned hair that was unreasonably broken (wind should not pull the hair right ouf the scalp, for example!) Thankfully there are still some PAs with high quality hair, and dhair that has rigging as well as morphs and simulation settings. I just got some from Chevybabe, AprilYSH, Toyen, and OOT recently. No regrets there!

Xgen Hair is a type of Maya hair using the Xgen Geometry instancer AFAIK like Shave and a Haircut

so not polygon hair like the DAZ product

It would only be allowed if the vendor is the same, no? Because I remember sometime back, all PAs were informed that buying something from artstation or another marketplace and just making it work in DAZ would not be allowed.

I don't know the rules, you would have to ask PA support - I suspect it would be case-by-case, and would of course require the agreement/license terms permitting of the original artist.

so this predates the DAZ hair?

is it actually the same mesh or just a popular style both copied?

    I would have questions

Thank you for addressing that qualification that the promos have listed. I read it on the first hair that showed up in the store and backed away. Then I saw other ones arrive and wondered what was up with it. To the point, I am not buying any of them, no matter how cute or possibly useful the hair could be. Sticking to known artists with proven records of quality.

The hair is giving me an "Oops" page when I tried opening the link in the first post, so I went to XYZ's store front and the hair is no longer showing up. XYZ has some great looking hairs but none of them have any morphs, when I bought the Naturally Curly Hair I was extremely let down with the fact that there were ZERO morphs to help with hair posingbefore the simulation. I want all the hair to be completely behind the shoulders? Too bad, figure it out yourself, lol. I made a thread about it https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/651261/need-help-with-creating-a-hair-morph-for-xyz-natural-curly-hair and eventually figured it out but it looks like XYZ still doesn't supply any morphs...

Make sure to always check the 'What's Includedand Features' section on the product's store page before buying. All the morphs, materials, poses etc. that come with the product are required to be listed down there.

Should be, but aren't always... if you want to be doubly sure, you can click on the blue "Read me" link next to the SKU, and see what total presets are included. If you're a bit crazy like me, you may even scroll down to the "Additional Details" on the readme page and click on the file list to see all the shapes/corrections/maps included. Sometimes that gives clues to a product being well made/amount of files/etc, or maybe requires other products to work, or misnamed or have ID conflicts you want to avoid. It just depends on how picky you might be. Ha.

I almost learned my lesson with that... almost. I bought an outfit from a different vendor and forgot to check the list of detailed options which was a mistake. The jacket, shirt, pants and shoes all load as a single object with no easy way to hide anything, and if I wanted to load it through smart content I'd have to add the entires myself because the vendor didn't feel like doing it. After those two issues I now look through the list of morphs, options and whatever else I can see to make sure I'm getting what I expect I'm getting.

Looks like it was removed from the store. I purchased it but haven't tested it yet.
