From bad to worst. My calendar freebie is an M3 outfit that of course is not on my wishlist

I have more than 60 DO bellow $25 (mostly G8/G3), mora than half of that is even bellow $20. I don't know what else to add angry

60 items is not enough. I got a mix of random items and wishlist items with 70 DO's on my wishlist. I started getting only wishlist items when I about doubled that number. DAZ+ items likely don't count.

First days was working fine. But it went downhill. I'm currently adding more stuff that is not that i need/want but i would't mind be free over ancient items i have no use for.

I doubled my DO WL (or maybe even more), adding plenty of both G8 and G3 and what did i got as freebie? Texture for a genesis dress i don't even own (the 2.99 is an item i added yesterday, so my changes were already considered).

Maybe each customer must have a different threshold for the freebies. From those that were a bit more usefull, mine seems to be bellow $16 and G3 or older. Even G3 gets difficult with that number sad

For me so far, the free gift has been a better choice, even if both items were free for pretty much each day so pretty happy so far. I do have over 900 items on WL though and none are specific to Genesis below 8.

Day 4 of a free gift being so old and useless I'm not even going to take it.

The $2.99 item continues to be from my WL, but as always more expensive than it's been in the last part of the year

I'm sticking to the trees by Howie. At least something useful. If you have Ultrascenery 2. I do.
    UltraScenery2 - Tree Pack 1 | Daz 3D

Buy it straight out for 2.99, no buy-in mumbo jumbo, which is required for pretty much anything else on "sale"  I grabbed the free holiday deal as well. Hey, I might even have a punch for tomorrow and regain the free calendar offer.

...I have Ultracenery 1 which I picked up during a sale but haven't used it yet as I'm not sure if it would be too much for my 13 year old (237 in computer years).system.

it might be pretty tough rendering with it. Even my 4080 bogs down with the newer Ulrascenery stuff, but I think its more a DAZ Studio problem than an Ultrascenery one.

Wow, if your 4080 has to work hard with it, my 3080 would be hopeless. There have been times I've been tempted to try Ultrascenery, but I got the feeling it would be resource intensive.

I don't remember prices being this high since the original $99 DAZ Dragon days, and I'm a Premier member. A single character is $32 and that's with a 35% sale? I've got single outfits in my wishlist that are $33 and a posable book that's $25. After two and a half decades, you guys are on the verge of pricing me out of this hobby. Guess it's good timing that I'm getting more experienced with ComfyUI.

Thanks for the reminder on ComfyUI. Your comment made me remember that I was interested in installing and testing the Krita AI plugin. Wow! There is a lot to learn and digest, but also a lot of possibilities for integration with renders from DS. Of course the obvious is to use it to refine rendered images, but you could also use other software to create character Loras using multiplier renders of your custom characters, then use the pose function to even pose them in Krita AI (it uses Stable Diffusion. I think this could help me bridge the price/income gap.

I also now realize that there can a lot more to AI art than just typing in a few words/statements if you want specific output. I think it could make a nice companion to DAZ. It could also be used for generating quick draft image that you then use as inspiration for a scene in DAZ. Or to add infill elements using Krita for things you don't have 3D models for.

Now back to the subject of the thread. I'm really glad I was able to finally pick up some of the UltraScenery stuff that I've wanted for a loooong time on a good sale! Now to give UltraSenery 2 a try (picked it up last week on a huge discount).

Following the advent calendar, I missed some doorbusters, I didn't get them, but now I regret it. Do you think they will come back, towards the end of the sale, like they did in previous sales?

No guarantee but IMO there's a good chance there will be a catchup at some point.

I have 2060 and have rendered things with US before. It does take time and forget about doing Iray preview, though you might be lucky if you do "restrict to camera", but it's doable. Also, the amount of other things you can put in the scene will likely be limited, but it's definitely doable and renderable. It'll just take some time.

The original Ultrascenery ran fine on my 3060, which is what I had when I bought it years ago. The current issue appears to be with Daz 4.22, which brought the 3090 I'm using now to a near standstill. The problem affects original USC and USC2. There's a bunch of conversation about it on the USC thread.

i'm using DS 4.23 and it still dogs out with USC2 and USC, depending on a lot of factors, but certain ecologies and lighting really affects it.  I don't condiser my system as old, its a 4080, 32gig ram, and an Intel i7 13700KF CPU. Yeah, I ran USC just fine with my 2070 Super. It actually wasn't all that much slower than my 4080. Shocking to me actually, and disappointing.

Maybe that means that the bottleneck is not the GPU. I only have a 3080 (10GB), a much much older CPU and 32 GB of system RAM. I am not normally experiencing the big performance issues that some are reporting. Some of the USC2 Pasture ecologies have way too many plant instances (IMO) and do cause slow performance for me, but those are an exception. I am using DS 4.23.0.4 Public Build. Maybe the Public Build (beta) has significant improvements. Have you tried it?

What changed since this morning? Returned to the cart that I'd been building to find that prices have jumped. The difference isn't all that extreme, but I don't like being jerked around. Cart emptied.

no, haven't tried it. I usually stay away from beta products, other than when a general release is actually a beta in disguise. wink
