Startup Issues

Hello,
It's my first time trying to use DAZ Studio, so I have the most updated version (4.8).
I use Windows 10 and I have a decent video card, so the program shouldn't lag on me. Unfortunately, I can't get the startup scene to work and I have tried to look for solutions. I saw where I needed to change the directory to another path but I can't type in the new "link" and if I tried to click to it, it opens the very folder that it is supposed to lead to but not in the program.

What exactly is the issue? Are you getting an error message?
Yes, it would say that it cannot find the Genesis startup scene... I can't remember what the message says to be exact. I saw where I could change the directory path to include "My Daz Library" or something like that, but I can't seem to actually type it in the input.
Is it looking for Genesis.dsf? If you had an older version of DS isntalled on that machine the setting may still be there from that, 4.8 doesn't have a default auto-load scene and there is no longer a Genesis.dsf file - user facing files are now .duf.
You can clear the auto-load scene by going to Edit>Preferences and changing the option in the Startup tab - you can also set it to load any scene you like (for example one with your preferred lights, cameras and render settings).
OK, I cleared out the option but tried to open the Genesis 3 Male... It says it's missing the following:
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Male/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/PHMMouthRealismHD.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Male/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/PBMNavel.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Male/Genesis3Male.dsf
Ok, that means a pathing issue - either the product was not installed correctly or the content directory is not set. If you inherited settings from an older version of DS, as your startup issue suggests, then you may well not have the My DAZ 3D Library folder in Public Documents set as a content directory. Open the Content Library pane (not Smart Content, which is the one I think you may be using) and look under DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats - if you don't see My DAZ 3D Library listed right-click on the heading (DAZ Studio Fomrats, Poser Formats) and from the menu select the Add new directory option, then for each select the My DAZ 3D Library folder in your Public Documents folder.
it need the "Genesis starter essentials"
check in your DIM if is available
also check if all version is up to date, "Stater essentials" for Genesis, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3
I think I have it working now. Now I just need to learn how it all works and then I can start trying to make my stories! =) Thank you!
