how are inverted lines made with D-formers?

For example if I want to make a crease line on an item of clothing like pictured in the suit attached, how would you use d-formers to do this type of line crease on some type of clothing? it would be basically a slightly indented long inverted line across the clothes. I'm familiar with D-formers but am not sure how to do something like this with them if its at all possible. Could anyone show how it might be? preferbly with example pictures thanks.

In order to do such a thin line, there has to be enough geometry, and I doubt that the mesh would be so dense.

So for most clothing you would do such a thing with a normal or a bump map.
