Finding that I need a skin for an African-American child for an upcoming image, I thought I'd try my hand at editing a copy of the skins from this MR. However, beyond using the LIE, (which isn't really enough for this), I really don't know where to start.
Is there a tutorial or something that I might look at? (I know, there won't be one for specifically this resource, but something a little more generic is fine.)
*ETA: I'm asking people in general, by the way, not Zev specifically. :)
How much would I have to alter the textures to use on my character if I might try and sell in the DAZ store? Could I just change the colors? Or would I have to paint on some different details?
Awesome, I assume that goes for the Bump, Specular, and Transparency maps also?
Not changing them to reflect the diffuse, can make them appear fake; freckles, moles etc, have depth to them. Although for lighter ones, just the diffuse makes them more subtle.
Basically the legs was missing an assigned diffuse map in the Transmitted Color map property. All other areas had one assigned so there was a visible difference. It has been corrected. It was discovered on page 6 of this thread.
I have searched this thread for a clue on how to bake the eybrows. I have LIE Baker but I must be doing something wrong. The PDF that comes with the Skin MR doesn't explain how to bake the eye brows.
Once you apply LIE, you can get the baked results here. (see attachment) EG after I applied a LIE Brow, I went to the face surface and clicked on face colour and went browse. That takes you to the temp folder where you will see all the maps that LIE preset generated (baked). The reason I do not show how to do this in the tutorial is because vendors who are interested in using such products for MR purposes, usually overlay the elements (skin and overlay options) and merge it themselves in apps such as Photoshop. But if its automation you want, then this is how it is done with Studio and LIE.
OK yes - but I thought that was the whole point of LIE Baker: to avoid having to go searching for temp files and moving them to the runtime/textures? Tha't what I use LIE baker for with another 3rd. Party product (from 3feetwolf). It's a 10 second task with LIE baker which also creates a Mat preset at the same time, but I can't seem to be able to do the same with the eyebrows.
I generate a character, I add the age preset, I add the merchant skin resource. I add the brows, the face turns white in the render - like a geisha. I hold down CTRL and select "Surfaces, All, Images, Stack..." same thing. This happens on my i5 with Nvidia GTX 750 TI, but not on my i7 with Intel IRIS 540 GPU. Makes no difference if the character is male or female. I can have brows or a normal toned face - but noth both, on the i5.
Any suggestions? I prefer to render on the I5 with Nvida GPU.

In the texture shaded view it looks fine in the preview window. When I switch the view to IRAY or render IRAY the face turns white in the preview, and the actual render has the same issue.
I didn't try rendering in 3D Delight - but I believe if I did, it would be fine.
I am using the IRAY skin - although, there is only an IRAY skin, right?
Before application of eyebrows, and after. I suppose I could just add the eyebrows with LAMH or some other solution... but it bugs me that this isn't working...
And only on my i5 which has the more powerful GPU.

It's not about the textures, only the shaders (as a rule).

I have my temp data writing to a removable drive on the i5, and that drive was disconnected. It looks like the eyebrows are dependent on writing temp files out to the temp directory and then reading them back in. That was causing the error. I reattached the removable drive, tried again, and everything is working fine.
With this on sale atm, I'm looking at grabbing the full bundle because it seems like a better deal than a one off MR. My intention is commercial characters, but I'm noticing the line on the product page, "Please view product Tutorial for Merchant Resource agreement and product usage tips."
Can someone elaborate what the MR agreement is before I buy? Are there watermarks that need to be left in tact, does any part of this require the end user to own this product, etc? I know freebies and creating other MRs aren't allowed, but what are any other restrictions?
If anyone knows of an online link to the included PDF that'd be amazing.

I searched through the forum and couldnt find this issue, but after I apply the "GU Apply Yound Skin" (MDL), the eye irises become tiny dots of color rather than any color at all. I can reproduce this everytime. Something I am doing wrong here?
1. Add Genesis 3 model
2. Add "GU Apply Young Skin" (MDL) either before or after applying "Growing Up for Genesis 3" preset
Been messing around in the Surfaces and can't find what to change to fix the eyes.
EDIT: Not sure if it matters, but I am using the 4.9.3.153 Public Build of Daz
Comments
I thought one version would be for DAZ 4.8 and one version for DAZ 4.9, but i guess it was my imagination.

Thanks for an awesome product!

Yes, some form of changes there as well. I'm not too worried about that to be honest, mainly the diffuse needs changing.
Ok, thanks for the help!!!

Hmm. That's strange. Maybe ask Draagonstorm. She wrote the script. The brows from this product also uses LIE, so in theory it should work as well.
Thanks Zev, I'll ask her. I'm probably missing some simple step but can't put my finger on it.

In the renders in the texture view or in both?
Here is the interesting thing...

Nicstt, any ideas what might be going wrong that would be causing this, or how I might fix it?
I've thought about uninstalling and reinstalling it all via the Install Manager.
Uninstalled and reinstalled all of the merchant skin and all related shaping morphs for G1, 2 and 3 then reinstalled. The issue persists.

So, pretty much, operator error. All my fault. :)
Are your using one source for your content? I mean both computers access the same files.
