Add more light to Window Seat

ArtCollab's "Window Seat" is a great product, but I cannot make the scene brighter in IRAY.  I tried adding lights, using the camera headlamp, and cranking up the luminance of "3_LightCover, but the scene remains as dark as ever.  Can somone tell me what I need to do to get a brighter scene, please?

Tone Mapping. Use the sliders as you would for a camera.

  • Do you have "Scene and Lights" set in your render settings under Environment?

When I was working with the scene setting everything up in Iray I had a point light in the seating area and it lit it fine. Try adjusting your tone mapping settings. You can also set a spotlight shining into the seating area.

  • Thanks everyone!!  I set "Dome and Scene" in my Environment and everything seems to be OK.  It was set to "Dome Only".

It was set to "Dome Only".

This is the main cause of your lighting problem — every extra light you added was being ignored.

Note that this can get a bit tricky; actual Point/Spot/Distant lights that you add from the top toolbar will be ignored with a "Dome Only" setting. I'm not sure if this still holds if you apply an emissive Iray shader to a material, to make it into a mesh light. Other Iray functions don't consider mesh lights to be "real" lights, so some experimentation will be needed.
