Is Poserworld site gone?

I was looking for a tutorial on 'Making realistic neon sign' by Allen Harkleroad at poserworld.com but the link doesn't exist.  Not even wayback machine brings up anything.  I only see some screenshots online but that's it.  I went to the Facebook page of Poserworld and saw posts were made in January this year but even clicking on it's site page from there do not work.  Do anyone know how one can get hold of this tutorial?  Allen Harkleroad's site (http://allenharkleroad.com) and this site seems not working either: http://designertoday.com/Tutorials/Cinema.4D/6868/Creating.a.Realistic.3D.Neon.Sign.Model.Tutorial.aspx

https://poserworld.com/ ;         - none of links seems active on my side

Nope, it seems dead now, all the way.  So much for leaving the archive open for lifetime members...  And the store is gone, too.

It looks live to me right now.

I can log onto the main site, but I can't log into the lifetime member's archive...

EDIT: looking at my inbox, I haven't gotten any promo emails from them since before CHristmas...

It's now a long time since I have posted this, and I still can't log in both these links:

    https://poserworld.com/

    This site can’t be reached

poserworld.com’s server IP address could not be found.

    Both links work for me....

EDIT; try pasting this Ip address into your browser...
    24.54.107.117

This is allegedly the IP address for Designertoday.com, but it doesn't work,.

    24.54.107.116

As I said, It works by name for me, but I can't connect to it by name through a UK proxy server (although Poserworld.com does), which leads me to believe it's some sort of DNS issue...

I will try that tomorrow when on my pc, now on cell. I am actually interested in neon tut but don't use cinema 4D. Will search for more tutorials regarding this. Strange that this is so far the only sites giving this enter problem. Well, this is how technology sometimes work, lol. :)

I havent been able to get there in quite a long time. I've already accepted the fact that the site is gone and our "lifetime" memberships are null and void. Lifetime subscriptions are never continually sustainable. Then again I havent been Poser/DS/Carrara active since the original ArtZone.

Don't know about memberships as it's been ages since I had one there but right now I am logged in and able to download stuff from my previous orders, as well as update my account info so that part of the site is working.

  • I get Server Not Found too.

Even if I try those IP addresses.

It has to be a DNS issue. I can get to the site and look at models. I had wanted to get a lifetime membership or buy one of their archive CDs when I first got into 3D, but kept forgetting. Looks like they don't offer that any longer but their models are still for sale.

I asked over on the Smith Micro forum, but it didn't seem like anyone over there was getting this issue. So now down to the process of elimiantation. Why can most still get to the site but some of us can't. I even used my iPhone while not connected to my network and still couldn't access it.

So a question, is anyone outside of the USA able to access the site?
Is this an Australian issue, do @launok, @garibaldiscat_92601f60b2, or @MGCJerry happen to live in Australia too?

I tried several times since the beginning of this discussion. Never could access Poserworld. I live in France.

I cannot and in Australia too

Tried to connect through a VPN and now it worked. Used Betternet. But didn't try to buy something.

Still works for me, in the UK.

France, so that means it's not limited to just Australia. The fact you could access the site using a VPN further suggests that we are somehow blocked from viewing the site normally due to our locations. Is anyone outside of the US and not using a VPN still able to get to the site?

Had no problem & I'm in Canada.

If I remember well, Launok, who started the discussion, lives in South Africa.

Strange, so it can't be due purley to what country you try to access the site from. Can anyone who can still acess the site contact support and let them know about this issue? I've tried letting them know on Facebook, but never heard back.

  • I am in Germany and nothing goes.

Not promising... I checked Facebook today to see if I got any response yet... and it looks like they have killed off their Facebook page. So then I checked Twitter and saw this message.

Last Poser World 3D model discount EVER. 75% off your total on all Poser World 3D Models, Scenes, Clothes, Etc.

    Use discount code: 75OFF

    Good through Sunday April 13th

    https://poserworld.com/

DISCOUNT NOT GOOD FOR CUSTOM 3D MODEL PROJECTS

Last discount ever? That doesn't sound good. Anyone who can still access the site might want to jump on this one.

Thier FB page is still up...

    https://www.facebook.com/PoserWorld

However, in a comment to the above sale notice (which should be MAY 13th)
"Well we aren't going to update the store any further and only focus on making custom 3D models for clients. The 3D model store business model has gone downhill for a few years now. It's time to move on to other 3D niches."

For real? This is what I get if I click that link.

Since I can't get to it I can't copy 'n' paste it here, but all I did was post a link to this thread and ask them if they could forward this issue onto their tech support. I wasn't rude or anything, nothing to warrent this.

nah need to be signed into Facebook and possibly a friend of Alan Harkleroad to see it, I cannot on Safari either

  • QuietrobQuietrob Posts: 361

The site still has poser models and appears to be functioning.  My user name and password still allowed me access.

Pity, though.  In it's heydey it was great to have access to so many models.  Still, the prices are pretty low for what they are selling.
