did you know that there was a smoke and mirrors day?
pᴉp ʎon ʞuoʍ ʇɥɐʇ ʇɥǝɹǝ ʍɐs ɐ sɯoʞǝ ɐup ɯᴉɹɹoɹs pɐʎ¿

Well it appears there is,  and it is on the 29th of March. It's to celebrate the art of illusion, as practised by illusionists on stage, back in the day
So have a go,  see what you can come up with using smoke and mirrors and special lighting and  Props or people,  as the old time magicians and illusionists did

Your imagination is the only limit

This thread is the WIP thread, so you can post here to show us how things are coming along before the render is transferred to the actual Contest thread for judging. You don't have to do that.we collect up all the finished ones and make the thread, with each render given a number and title, but no artist name shown, so it's a blind judging thread for the judging panel.

Rules

  •

All renders must be new renders.
  •

You can enter up to 3 renders.
  •

You must abide by the DAZ 3D forum TOS
  •

Imported content is allowed, but the render must be obviously a Bryce render.
  •

Post Work permitted, but please keep it to a minimum.
  •

Rules may be changed for subsequent Challenges, depending on the theme and the person who has selected it.
  •

Please don't post your entry renders anywhere else until after the Challenge is judged, as judging is done in a blind judging thread, so the Judges don't know who has done which image.

Challenge ends April 15th 2021:- Midnight DAZ 3D time

DAZ 3D Sponsorship, in the form of Store credit

Ist place $30     2nd place $20     3rd place $15

I think that this is a fascinating theme.  At first it seems easy to me but the more I think of images the harder it becomes.

Interesting, magic but certainly not easy.

That's a fantastic concept.  Never thought about magic but I should have.  Is this a 2D plane?

Thanks everybody NGartplay there are some 2D objects included and lots of lights

another version but to me it has less of a visual impact............ however  it does have more elements 2D and 3D

Chohole yes I saw this on my local news being based in Devon; it is a  very strange effect

spuddy - this version is more pleasing, the curtains make a big difference.

  • spuddyspuddy Posts: 449

Thanks  Horo I'm still refining it getting some texture on the stage and sizing issues

  • mermaid010mermaid010 Posts: 4,954

Spuddy - very nicely done, I also like the addition of the curtains and extra lights

spuddy - that's definitely an improvement - more complete than the first one and the floor looks better in the latest version.

  • HansmarHansmar Posts: 2,750

Spuddy: Third one is best so far.

  • adbcadbc Posts: 3,076

spuddy : I also prefer the third one.

  • HoroHoro Posts: 10,069

    spuddy - another improvement.

  • A very interesting challenge theme.

spuddy- a great interpretation of the theme. Really like the staging and poses. I like the illumination of the "floater” in the first image but the third is definitely the best one overall.
