Automatic VRAM Fit Resource Optimizer

I'm often using this wonderful product: https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer

And I know this one is famous too: https://www.daz3d.com/resource-saver-shaders-collection-for-iray

They're very useful tools, yet they slow you down a little bit. What if you didn't sacrifice too much, and the scene still doesn't fit in your VRAM? Between selecting the items, checking them out, backup, reducing the textures, closing Daz, reopening it, loading the scene, starting the render...you've already lost around 10 minutes! And what if, on the other hand, you've sacrificed too much?

It would be GREAT to have a product that automatically decides what to do to make the scene fit in your avaiable VRAM!

It could choose what to compromise based on your preferences (for example you could set to not change the texture of a painting), on the distance from the camera, on the overall texture dimension on screen (for example if a ring had a 4000x4000 textures, you would never notice a reduction in it, but you would if it were a big wall)!

What do you think? I don't know it this would be possible to realize, but, having a 3Gb VRAM GPU, I would definitely buy it!

  • Unfortunately it isn't really possible to determine how much memory will be needed in advance. I don't know if the data could be scraped from setting up but terminating a CPU render - though that would still take time.
