Is there anyway to setup network rendering where only the network nodes render and not the local host (Master machine) and the network nodes?

No. You need the Batch Queue to control and trigger the nodes, and to compile the final image/video. You can still use Carrara while the Batch Queue is running.... And on Windows I believe you can open another instance of Carrara.... But essentially the Batch Queue is the "brain" for the nodes.

An option would be to install Carrara Pro to one of your node machines and run it there (maybe using VNC or similar to log in to that computer to control that Batch Queue).

Just on the off chance that your real issue is that you want your local host machine not to be tied up during batch rendering, the way around that (on a windows machine), is to lower the priority of the carrara session that is controlling the rendering. (Via task manager - just right click the task and set it to below normal).

Now you'll (pretty much) have your machine back for whatever you want to do on it. :)
