Genesis Eyes vs Genesis 2 Eyes (vs V4 eyes)

Is there a difference between how eyes work between Genesis and G2F?

I'm trying to use a Genesis fantasy eyes pack on G2F, and it's not working. (neither automatically with the .dsa or manually applying image maps..they dont' seem to match up).

I've converted figueres from v4 to G2F and their eyes work..

Am i missing a simple fix before I fire up Photoshop to move stuff around?

Ok..I need to set the CORNEA and SCLERA as the two important ones..not Iris and Sclera...so one problem solved..

But shouldn't the .dsa file work?

Remember that G2 brought back the Eye Surface material that was in Generation 4 Unimesh but not in Genesis; that confused a lot of eye MATs. The .dsa file should have worked, though, the G2 surface names were changed, but the legacy names should still match the older figure's surfaces and be picked up on when an old material file is loaded. Open the file in a text editor (or the Script IDE in D|S if you have it installed), scroll down to near the bottom, and see if there's anything weird with the surface names.

What most will tell you is that the G2F/G2M figures will only accept DUF files, but that's not the case. The main issue is that the names of the material zones have changed, they are no longer 1_, 2_, 3_, etc like previous figures were, and that only DUF will auto-convert the names internally and set the correct UV.

BUT G2F and G2M can use any preset with the right mods.

Use Blackfeather's script to temporarily rename the new surfaces back to the old ones, then you can use any preset you like.. duf, pz2, dsa, etc. Just remember to copy the torso mat to the ears (right click on the torso surface > copy, right click on the ear surface > paste to selected), and to set the correct UV.

Inside are 2 scripts, New Surfaces -> Old, and Old -> New. These 2 scripts allow me to mix/match to my hearts content. V6 skin with V4 eyes, no problem. Apply the skin you want, use the G1Surfaces4G2F script, then use the V4 eyes preset you want.

You will need to own either or both of these products for the UVs depending on what figure you need.

Also, for a bit of flare, you can copy any uvs for G2F over to G2M's data folder (follow the correct structure) and he can then wear her skin. lol

Oh, if you have textures that came with both Genesis and Gen4 versions, use the Gen4 version as Genesis didn't have the Eye Surface that Gen4 and G2F/M have.

Here's a shot of G2M wearing M5 Aiden (which is still in dsa) and G2M's surfaces renamed with the script.

If you want G2 eyes on a G1 you can always get this: http://www.daz3d.com/eye-surface-for-genesis

I pitched this to Phil as an idea and he turned it into reality. Little did either of us know at the time how imminent G2 was.

Thanks Roger...the reverse is what I'm after. I'll go thru Vaskania's suggestions when I have a bit more time.
