white dots and noise in iray render?

Hi,

when I render my scene (basic static) with iray, I alway have these tiny white dots and noise, especially in dark parts of the model. Could I do something to get rid of those (except post processing ;))? Or what reasons could that have? At the moment I run on a very basic graphics card, so rendering takes ages. Could it be, that DS stops rendering after a certain time? or that the card is too weak overall?

Thanks for your advices.

The default stop conditions will stop the render after 2 hours (7200 seconds) -- you can increase that limit.

  • thanks. will try if that solves the problem. :)

Also see if you can increase the amount of light in your scene, by boosting the luminosity of all the lights (and the Environment dome, if you're using it) equally. Then use the f/stop setting in the Tone Mapping panel to reduce the exposure by one or two f/stops to get the lighting back to where you want it. There is no need to over do it. You just want to add some more photons for Iray to do its job.
