Some of those go all the way back to victoria 1 , thats around 15 years or so old, so you might get them to work if you parent them to your characters head instead of auto-fitting them.
The number of morphs will depend on the hair, not all of them will have morphs.
I've found this useful to expand effective morphs of items lacking them: http://www.daz3d.com/hat-and-hair-helper-genesis-2 You can also edit > object > geometry > add smoothing modifier if your hair lacks smoothing and collision If you set the hair to collide with your figure, the hair will push away from skin better. However, this can be limited and run into problems (like different layers of hair pushing past each other)
