Does the Tactical Shotgun have 3delight materials?

I can't tell from reading the description whether these are iray materials or 3delight ones. Since the items aren't returnable during the sale, I would love to know before buying

The promos were done in Iray so I'd assume there is at least Iray mats. You can always submit a ticket asking.

Going by the maps included I would say Iray. Glossiness and Metal maps are Iray Properties not 3Delight. That said, personally the inclusion of Iray or 3delight or Iray shader presets isn't a big deal to me as long as the color maps and normal or bumps are good. I almost always end up changing the presets anyway with my own shader presets or the Iray pack presets keeping only color normal and cutout.

Edit: All the preview images say Iray too and looking closely at them some of the skins use metal flakes which is also Iray. Here is a file list. From the looks of it there is only one set of materials which I am guessing is IRay.

Essentially, it looks like all the material presets are primarily iRay with the exception of the Buckle, Fabric and Normal Steel surfaces which all have 3Delight settings...?? Have to admit, quite surprised by that I was expecting to find both 3Delight and iRay settings in the package!

  • Okay, well, that's disappointing, but thanks. I don't use Iray, so no sale for me with iray-only content. Glad to know though.

It looks great, but tactical shotgun, interesting name; the same sort of interesting as collateral damage, or friendly fire. frown

It's the actual term for shotguns used in close quarter combat situations. Even though it's effective in real world situations, I prefer an assualt rifle over it any day, LOL.

Cool looking product, but I already have a few of them in .obj form from other places

It seems to render in both 3Delight and Iray. The 3Delight test renders didn't have as nice a reflective shine on it as the Iray render. Only one set of the different colour schemes in included, so, I'm guessing it's optimised mainly for Iray rendering.

But if you want it for the poses and such, it's perfectly usable in 3Delight. Just keep in mind the textures will be flatter and such (which could probably be rectified by a liberal use of shaders).

Combat shotgun/tactical shotgun is real terminology:

I recognised it as real; the name just amused me in a somewhat ironic way. I like it enough to see if I have a need soon. Eventually sure, but soon; even though the price is great, I do need to budget...

Seriously, I do need so. :)

  • Thanks everyone! I am seriously temped because I like the accessories on this set. =-)
