Thanks Ice, glad to hear it since I`ll probably do more of it. :)

    Looking forward to it!

  • *two thumbs up* Good gravy, those renders look stunning. Definitely on my shopping list. ;-)

Really love the second one with the Jupiter-like planet :)

Thanks Laurie, glad you like it! Ye, the "Jupiter" side of the set is likely it`s best side, it certainly had some kind of gravitational pull on the camera when i did the preview renders. ;)

I picked up the other two sets at rendo this morning. Nicely done.

    Thanks Serene, I noticed ;)

Any idea when it will be released? I see II and III already out on another site.

Thanks for the kind new comments, I am glad to see there`s interest in the scifi theme as well. :)

    I`d wish I knew too, but I didn`t get a date yet.

Not the one we're waiting on but thought you might like to see it. I wasn't super inspired - my muse has been on vacation for awhile now :P

Oh I like it a lot, thanks! Especially the alien`s "oh my" gesture is golden.
It`s also the first time I see someone embed an object into an easy environment skysphere/hdri like that.
(I know it`s done with hdris+figures all the time, but the easy environment hdris are not tailored for that use)

Since I am here already ... no news on a releasedate, I am a bit puzzled myself.

If I remember correctly you should add the texture to the "Emission Color" channel as well to avoid the whiteout.

Is this the channel we add something to to get the older 3dl sets to work with Iray so we have a "dome" or at least something like a dome?  I lost the link to wherever in the forum it was talked about.

    Thanks.

Yes ... in general the emission stuff is used to make surfaces cast light in Iray. In the skybox/skysphere context it can be used to adjust the brightness.
    Maybe this can be useful:

It`s old but I suppose the basic info is still correct.

Just to quickly drop the info ... We finally got a release date. :)

I am not sure if giving straight dates is allowed right now, so ... in a week ;)

    Hiya!

Time to drop some previews for a new set. :)
I had a couple of requests to do pure "above the clouds" skyspheres, so here we go.
The set comes with a daytime and a sunset version, both with warm/cold variations, four preloads total.
As per usual for Iray, 3Delight and Poser. ;)

    Hope you like it!

Very nice! Will this be pure HDRI for the Iray version?

    Hi guys!
A new set is coming up, Easy Environments: Earth. :)

The idea was to provide an easy-to-use but still flexible option for space/earth renders.
At it`s core the set handles similar to skyspheres, just load & render. But earth, moon and sun are billboards (planes with pre-rendered images) separate from the starfields, allowing you to make your own adjustments to scale, position, color-tone, and so on. It`s quite a packed set imo, featuring 6 starfields and 10 earth-preloads.
    Hope you`ll you like it!

Here`s a little preview video to showcase how the set is structured and how you can make adjustments.

    Agreed! Nice work!

Awesome!  I've been wanting more good, high-rez space sets like this.

  • sapatsapat Posts: 1,735

So cool!  Now I know what to do with all my big ships that won't fit inside my hanger bays!

  • FlipmodeFlipmode Posts: 890

Thanks guys, glad you like it.
I hope I`ll get to see those big ships ... I almost built some myself, but so little time, so much to do.

It looks great ! Are the starfields HDRI ?

    Thanks :)

No, they are not HDRI. I did some testing with HDRI early on, but ended up prefering the results I got working with standard jpgs.
Imo the biggest benefit of HDRI with Iray is the lighting, and that didn`t come into play here, the stars don`t cast enough light.
The Iray version uses a physical skysphere same as the other versions, lighting comes from a mix of spotlights and the emission from the sun-billboard (and a tiny bit from the earth-billboards).
