Stupid simple tip

It's not even an Iray tip, but today I was struggling with this 'primitive shark' model... the eyes looked weirdly segmented. I finally twigged to the fact that the entire body was one map, that was only 1024x1024.
Ok, this might be really obvious to some of you, but for others...
I resized the textures (diffuse and bump) to 4x size, Gaussian Blur 8 pixels. (This might be too much, depending on the fine detail -- somewhere between 4-8 should work)
Bam. Now the eye is smooth and it looks great.

Good tip! I think it is hard for people who started more recently (say more recently than 5 or 6 years ago) to remember that maps use to always be much smaller than they are now. With iray expecialy those little maps look.. urm..not great? This won't work with every texture but it would solve issues for scores of them.
