Emissive Mask

edited September 2016 in Daz Studio Discussion

I'm currently trying to figure out how to create a glowing surface on a texture--an example, a glowing tattoo on a Genesis skin.

I have tried the base color in base channel, a copy in the emission color, then a mask in luminance.  The result only shows the area the mask allows, blacking out the masked area.  I've been using a geoshell to adjust.  But, is this normal, our am I doing so!etching wrong?  I haven't been able to find a definite answer via search or the forums.

  • You are very close. You really only need the map in the emmisive channel. Black does not glow, anything other than black does glow. Here is the graphic I put in the arms surface in the Emission Color channel. I didn't add any other maps.

Here is the render and my surface settings.

I hope that gives you a starting point. Good luck.

  • Thank you!

  • No problem. Hey, I like your avatar. Cats in sinks completely rock. If the picture is your little fuzzball, it is super cute.

  • This is interesting, I was wondering something along these lines as well.
